Temperature-wind chill in Green Bay will be brutal!!
I live a few hours northwest of Green Bay where when cold fronts come through,Green Bay gets our weather a few hours later. It's supposed to be brutal with possible -30to-40 windchills all weekend.

In my opinion, you can throw out all statistics, probabilities, scenarios,records.etc.when handicapping this game. There are just too many variables involved. It's a crap shoot! The Miami Dolphins could probably beat the Patriots in this weather half the time. This kind of cold is like a great equalizer just like in horse racing where you can throw pace and tactical speed out the window when you get 4 inches of gumbo on the track.

Anyone remember when Bud Grant was coaching the Vikings when he refused to let his players have any heaters and modern heating conveniences on the sidelines in games like this?He said it turned the players into whimps where it took their mind off the game if they got too comfortable.Do you think ol Bud had some toys in the attic?

Having lived in this icebox my whole life, I can't believe they'll be playing in this weather. When it gets below zero and -30 to -40 WC, I don't go outside period. It's brutal. Exposed skin freezes in minutes. You won't see any bare arms, if these guys don't want permanent damage.

But, you've gotta give the Packers the edge in miserable conditions. The fans will be there to encourage them through the adversity. Favre will know how to encourage and lead this team through the brutal cold. As long as Favre gets a little protection against the tenacious Giants D, I think he'll find a way.

shit , just checked the forecast from weather channel.com and I'm gonna have to cover my over and G.B/over parlay and go the other way.

When you watch the game be on the look out for the guy who is wearing nothing but a grape sac in the stands.

at the beginning of the week i was leaning NYG +points and the under, and Pats -points and under. i wish i had played my hunches Mon., cause last night, i too, was checking the weather reports, and when i checked the lines, shit had already dropped, big time, i guess now i'll wait till right up to game time, to see if their are any weird swings in weather by mother nature, and see if their is any value in the lines then.

I don't see the lines stopping the drop.

Doesn't cold weather help cause fumbles? There definitely going to be some points scored from defenses.

i don't know if your saying the spreads or the ov/un's, i was referring to the ov/un's had dropped big-time by yesterday. the spreads will probably stay close to what they are, i'm hoping maybe the unders will go low enough, and the weather breaks(to the good i.e. warmer) at the last minute, then i might find value in the over. but it looks like i'll being playing just sides as of now.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the NFL when it comes to betting is when people see bad weather they automatically think it will be a low scoring game. I've seen plenty of games played in really bad weather where quite a few points were scored. I actually think the offense has the advantage because the receiver's know where there going and the CB's don't. Plus you have the possibility of turnovers in bad weather.

Don't bet based strictly of weather conditions.

Wrong. One must simply know which kind of "bad weather" is bad for scoring and which isn't. This isn't too hard to figure out. That doesn't mean it's perfect, but the correlation is high enough.

Extreme cold is good for the under. You can score in rain and snow but extreme cold and windy is different.

I know. I was just choosing a more indirect way of saying it.

as DL and Seer pointed out, there are different kinds, and when temperatures are expected in single digits and strong wind, a under is a good choice depending on the number.

Well, since I've been watching football since the 60's I've seen more than a few games in bad weather. If you're basing your under bet strictly on the weather then good luck.

I think people are mis-understanding what I'm saying. I am saying do not bet solely based on bad weather, that's all. I have seen numerous people bet the under based sctrictly because bad weather was forecasted. By the way, here's an example of the coldest game ever played, ironically in GB. There were 38 total points scored.

The 1967 game, played on December 31 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, remains the coldest NFL game on record. The official game-time temperature was -13°F / -25°C, with a wind chill around -48°F / -44°C. The bitter cold overwhelmed Lambeau's new turf heating system, leaving the playing surface hard as a rock and nearly as smooth as ice, but many believe Packer coach Vince Lombardi turned it off.[citation needed] The officials were unable to use their whistles after the opening kickoff. As the referee blew his metal whistle to signal the start of play, it froze to his lips. For the rest of the game, the officials used voice commands and calls to end plays and officiate the game.

I'll assume they'll be using plastic whistles for this game.
