#10Well you are asking a rather odd question.
If you could get New England +5000 to make the AFC Champ game, would you take it?
That's obviously a ridiculous line, but like any other bet some futures can have value. There is more to consider than a game that's say tonight (ie time value of money).
But, blanket statements like futures are for suckers or they aren't just don't make any sense.Comment -

#11i also think for sports like college BB, if you pick a team or two to win the national title and get good odds, you can hedge it in the tournament and guarentee yourself money.Comment -

#12Futures are good markets just like any other. Tradesports has some of the sharpest people playing prediction markets and a lot of bookmakers like to buy positions they can bet off later.
But, they can be traps. It's a good way for a book to scam users. They can have great attractive odds and only end up scamming 1/30th of the bettors.
If you bet a line with no value, you give the book your money to make interest on for 6 months and then they give it back to players after keeping the juice.Comment -

#13I personally think there's great value in Indy to win the SB, if you can find the best odds.Comment -

#15mostly they are, I would almost never play a future that is not at least 30/1 or more, I did pick up Washington at 50/1 to win the NFC at beted before the Cowboys game though,Comment -

#16sharper players can use these futures to great advantage so long as they are willing to tie up their funds for a while. but i understand the idea that these are sucker bets as my friends at work are always playing some of these with high hopes and most of them are sucker bettors. One of my friends had st louis winning over 7 1/2 games. For the regular joe, these can be of great value when betting number of wins a team will have for the year because he essentially feels like he has money riding on every game of the season for a small iinitial play. i personally like to find great value plays here when they forget or are slow to change the odds after some games have played. picked up ohio st at 20 - 1 when it was obvious they had a good shot to make the title game, the next day it was down to +450.Comment -

#18I have found many values over the years also on futures so I do disagree with his statement.Comment
