Brett Favre, take George Castanza's advice and always go out on a high note.
The Packers at 12-3 are pretty overrated.Favre under optimal conditions can still win over pretty good teams but hits a brick wall when he plays the elite teams or plays in bad weather.

He doesn't have the grit and hungriness by saying things before a game like in Chicago on Sunday that he will be lucky to have 5 completions in the weather conditions they played in.Kyle Orton looked great compared to Favre.I could have looked better than Favre did in that game.It was the closest thing I have seen to a thrown game in my life.He had an arm made of friggin rags on Sunday.I swear he was using balls with helium in them.I would have been embarrassed of myself even in terrible conditions to play that way.

So Sunday he takes it easy and plays a half and gets a start in and wins the game against Detroit. He will win a playoff game or two and then get ground up in the NFC championship game if he gets that far.

Why doesn't he just come out and say he's retiring at the end of the season so that maybe the team will rally around him like they did when his dad got killed and they put on a gutty grand performance.

If Favre knew what was good for him and everyone else,he would have fun in the next few games going all out knowing that he looked good in his final season leaving on a high note.

The Packers and Favre should thank God if they have to play Dallas in Dallas if they get that far.I don't think Favre can handle bad weather anymore. He looks great and fit and all of that but he's still an old body with allot of miles that has now accustomed himself to the nice, easy and good life. That's a very dangerous combination for a guy who thinks he can be the best quarterback winning a super bowl.

If he knew he was ill, under the weather or hurting before the game, he should have pulled himself out of the lineup. If he's Mr.team player that wanted his team to have a chance at playoff home field advantage he would have done so.He could have played a Cal Ripken and went in for a couple plays and sat after that.

If anyone has earned the right to go out on their own terms, it's #4.

Did he play well against the Bears? No. He did not. My suspicion is his arm/elbow isn't 100% from his injury in Dallas.

Is he the only great QB to have a bad game this year? No. He is not. Peyton threw five picks at SD. Romo played like dog sh*t against Philly. Ben was horrible against the Jets. Were you calling for them to retire after those games? The point is pretty much everybody has one or two clunkers a year. Even somebody as great as Brett.

I've got a great idea: Why don't we let the QB who owns all the meaningful passing records in the history of the NFL decide when he wants to hang 'um up?

Dude the next time you play in conditions that in 5 minutes al most drifted in a heavy duty work truck with 3 ft of snow with 4wd. 50mph wind gusts from that storm. Cold, Blowing Snow, swirling winds, in soldier field. Trust me nobody wants to play that game.

I honestly don't think Brett Retires this year. I think he comes back again. 1 more time He's still shown us all he can compete at the highest level.

Also, Brett Favre's dad was not killed, he died of a heart attack while driving..

If you want Favre to retire, it shouldn't be because of a bad game in what otherwise has been a great season compared to some of his previous few, it should be because you think Aaron Rodgers can make all the throws Favre can, but is more mobile and needs the playing experience. Don't let that guy's prime slip away by riding a bench, he's a first rounder and I think he's primed for some big seasons if the freaking guy can get some playing time.

Geesh, getting a little knit picky about how a father dies.I'm sorry Favre's dad died because he seemed like a good ol boy kind of a guy but if you have a heart attack while driving and hit a tree, who's there to decide if the heart attack or the collision killed you?

That could be used in a college fluff philosophy class like,if a tree falls in the woods and there is no one there to hear it,does it still make a noise.

I'll bet if you look up Vince Young's college book reports you will find stuff like that.I can just hear coaches this time of year telling their teetering on the brink of academic ineligibility for playing in a bowl game players that they better get their book report done on Brett Favre's dad hitting a tree, making a noise and getting killed.

I'm sure the charities he donates $ to would agree he should retire as well.

Maybe Favre should just do (or is doing?) the opposite - that was the key to George's best successes. If so, Favre should return for just one more year.

Sorry just could not help it.....

IMO, Favre should retire this year; however, as he usually does, Favre will likely see how he feels after the season is over and keep the fans and the Packers at bay until his decision is made.

If he quits at the end of the season he will really pile up the $$$$$

I think Favre will be the hottest commodity as far as retired jocks go that you will ever find after retirement. He probably has as close to a zero negativity polling as you can find in a public figure. He's friends with people from all walks of life from NASCAR drivers to big game hunting show hosts and everything in between. The world could be his playground and he can have fun, take it easy and just let the $$$$$ roll in endorsing products and hosting shows etc.He could probably join Larry the cable guy and do blue collar stand up if he wanted to.The possibilities are endless for Favre so he better have a skeleton left to do them with.Who wants to be in constant pain when they are trying to have fun.
