they aren't the same till you've had them cooked in the French Quarter..right on Decatur Fish, the original french market restaurant. Unbeatable, so fresh they were swimming that morning.

I love the damn things almost as much as rum, but I won't touch them for another 5 years. Yeah, I understand that they're dirty creatures to begin with but I was there for Katrina & for the deep horizon fiascio. Not eating anything from those waters for some time.

crawfish are freshwater, they like to live in holes in the mud, hence the name, mudbugs; what does that have to do with katrina and the ocean?

different ways, but i prefer to: pull off the tail, suck the head, eat the meat from the tail

I am a flight engineer on chinook helicopters. Was in NO the day after Katrina. Lots of rescue missions & lots of failed missions (= lots of bodies in the water.) The oil spill mission was disturbing as well, due to what was seen in the water. I'm no tree hugger & I know it probably sounds nuts, just some things that I can't get out of my mind.

I suck the head & eat the tail. Chili, not to do into details, but during Katrina there were things everywhere, not just in the gulf. Like I said before, it's probably rediculous but I can't get around it.

so in a sitting, do you eat 20-30 crawfish? or what is about normal?

I remember me and my cousin at our reunions would spear for crawfish. We would find a piece of bamboo by the creek, and break off the middle part of the end, so it would just pinch the crawfish when would spear for them. We never ate them...didn't know you could back then. (I was around 5-10 years old, and we lived in California).

I do love crab; so i'm guessing I would like crawfish!

I would say that the usual serving size at a restaurant would be 2-4 pounds of crawfish. You get a big-ass plate full of them babies, yummmmm. I would guess there's about 20-30 crawfish per pound, so you're looking at anywhere from 50-100 crawfish you'd be eating. Sounds like alot, but each tail has so little meat.

Crawfish aren't really like crab, lobster, or shrimp. They have a different taste, but so delicious, especially cooked all hot and spicy. Grrrr, I'm getting homesick now, just from the thoughts of the food - my mouth is all watering right now.

I like it when they use a saw to cut the crab legs in halves. So that way you dont have to spend all your effort into getting the meat out of them.

It's all about the Cajun creole & it's amazing. They're farm raised now & worth a taste, but nothing really compares to the origional
