#37Which is exactly why, my dear Sportsgirl, I have TONS of respect for your boy Big Ben. That was a very classy statement for him to make.Originally posted by SportsgirlYou're not the only one:
"I told him I hope he breaks the record next week, because it's so much fun watching him play. I don't like him playing against us and how well he played, but it truly is an honor to watch such a great quarterback play the game." — Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger about Tom Brady.Comment -

#38Since I feel I have explained my point on both your sample size claim and your "system" claim, not much more I can say there. Feel free to actually explain yourself.Originally posted by ThrempYawn. You have no concept of sample size or systems it seems. You have not addressed stat padding either.
And stat padding? Are you implying that Manning WASN'T stat padding some of those years? Any time a QB puts up numbers in the range that Brady and Manning have, it's almost a prerequisite that stat padding is involved.Comment -

#39I don't know...I think Manning could use a little more grace under pressure. I wouldn't trade Brady for the world.Originally posted by roasthawglet's face it, brady is a great qb in a great situation. manning is a great qb in an alright situation. can you imagine manning on the pats, would they have ever lost a game??? this might be like there fifth undefeated season in a row.Comment -

#40I definitely think Brady has (and has had) the better offensive line which is invaluable to any QB. Not to mention a top rate defense.Comment -

Then research the names Rache Caldwell, Troy Brown, David Givens, David Patten, and tell me how many of those guys are still playing.Originally posted by roasthawgcan you imagine manning on the pats, would they have ever lost a game??? this might be like there fifth undefeated season in a row.Comment -

#43LOL. Let's put Peyton Manning in a high school wing-T, give him Jerry Rice and Randy Moss, call 80 running plays a game, two bomb passes, and see how many touchdowns he throws.Originally posted by dwaechteWell this is just fairly silly IMO.
The system most definitely affects a quarterbacks play and his stats. I should have included this in my original statement, though I was more or less just trying to make the point that offensive surroundings affect a QB's stats, not defensive ones. Anyways, to say the system affects a QB more than his surrounding players? At an NFL level? That's primarily saying that a head coach and offensive co-ordinator have more to do with a QB's stats than the other 10 players on the field. It's difficult for me to understand how anyone who follows the NFL closely could think that. In fact, you don't even need to look very far. Peyton's stats absolutely plummeted when he lost his starting LT, #1WR and #1TE. But if you could explain further, please do.Comment -

#44Or! Let's put Peyton Manning in an offense that throws nothing but 25 yard outs. Nothing else. Just one 25-yard out after another. Let's see what his completion percentage is!Comment -

It would be silly to think that the QB's system was more important than his surrounding offense when the coach/offensive coordinator are anywhere near NFL caliber. And I use the term "near" very loosely there. Why you would nit-pick one of my statements by including such a ridiculous frame of reference I have no idea.Comment
