I bet Texas over KU last November, laid 750 down, which is a huge number for me.

After winning I went to Ruth's Chris the next day and spent 100 dollars on lunch and booze. Victory party!

Brock, we all get there somtimes.... you just got there on a bigger scale than most...

I'm saying, rather than just bask in the glory day stories, I think a detailed breakdown of the bad times would be beneficial for many many many posters here.....

      think about it

never had like ONE game, aside from the previously mentioned BC loss to FSU in 07 that was truly devastating. Most of the time i've just chased to the point of desperation, and boom, disaster.

so when you chased, were you doubling up? did you have like a 9 game losing streak? were you betting on credit?

i can't remember the year, or the week but i had a parlay for san fran to win and another team to win. the other team won. i just need san fran to win. they are down by one or two points, field goal is all they need. they are driving with seconds left. a pass, a catch, receiver runs around, time is ticking, he keeps dodging and weaving. i'm yelling at him to fall down because they are in field goal range with a time out remaining. he is still zigging around and finally is tackled with no time left on the clock. i lose.

                    thanks brock

Funnily enough you are the IPOY for not understanding that I said "seemed fixed". I didn't claim it was fixed.

For me, it was 11 years ago, and it still stings........

Robin Ventura's Grand Slam Single for the Mets in the 1999 NLCS against the Braves. The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 15th. Ventura came up with the bases loaded and deposited a 2-1 pitch into the seats. The over-under was 7.5 runs, and I was heavy on the over, and I thought I just caught a miracle win. Then utter confusion. Because before Ventura reached second base he was mobbed by his teammates. The game ended with him underneath a pile. Baseball credited him with the longest single in major league history and ruled it a 4-3 final. Bookmakers paid out the under.

Thanks for the loss, turned miracle win, turned once in a lifetime loss.

The one game that sticks in my head is the Clemson vs UNC basketball game a couple years back. Clemson was getting like 13 1/2 and was up by 7 with 3 mins to play and after 3 OT UNC covers. I lost huge on that one and I know a few other posters here did too. I made a video after that game, it pretty much shut my gambling down for awhile. We were on that game big. Wish I still had the video I posted.

I've mentioned it before. I had Utah ML against Bama in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago. I remember I played Texas Tech earlier that morning in the Cotton Bowl against Ole Miss and lost about 300. I chased and put my whole account balance on Utah which was like 800 something. Easily my finest hour as a gambler

Illinois ML vs Arizona, Best college basketball game EVER

                                        March 26th, 2005

                                        Illinois 90
                                        Arizona 89

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois made a jaw-dropping final push for the Final Four with a rally that was as electrifying as it was improbable.
"Just amazing," Illinois coach Bruce Weber said. Trailing by 15 with just four minutes to play Saturday night, the Illini then showed why they have been No. 1 for most of the season. "We just kept fighting. We never gave up," Deron Williams said "It looked like the game was over." But it wasn't. With Williams and Luther Head leading the way, Illinois went on a dazzling 20-5 run, tying it on Williams' 3-pointer, and then held on in overtime to send Arizona to a crushing 90-89 defeat Saturday night in the Chicago Regional Finals. "We've got to keep going, keep playing. I'm trying to tell my teammates out on the floor 'This game's not over,' " Williams said. "'There's still some time, we can still get it down, chip away.' We ended up getting the momentum, the crowd into it and we were able to take the game over." The Illini (36-1), who've been able to drive to their two tournament sites in Indianapolis and suburban Chicago, so far, can keep on busing to the school's first Final Four appearance since 1989. In St. Louis, they will play Louisville (33-4), which rallied from a 20-point deficit Saturday to beat West Virginia 93-85 in overtime and take the Albuquerque Regional. The last time two regional final games went into overtime in the same year was 1992 when Michigan beat Ohio State, and Duke eliminated Kentucky. Arizona (30-7) went up 75-60 with four minutes to go after an 18-6 spurt that momentarily silenced a large, orange-clad partisan crowd. The Illini stoked up their defense, incited the crowd and turned the game around. "It's heart man, it's just heart," Illinois' Dee Brown said. "The whole time I was saying 'If it was meant to be, it was meant to be.' And I guess it was meant to be that we go to the Final Four." Head hit a pair of 3-pointers, Brown made a basket in the lane, Head scored after a steal, Williams drove for a basket and then made a steal and fed Brown for another basket with 45 seconds left. After Jack Ingram deflected an inbounds pass, Williams hit a 3-pointer to tie it with 38 seconds to go. "Guys left and right on their team were hitting big buckets, left and right, left and right. Whether it was a big guy or a guard," Arizona's Mustafa Shakur said. "It was just an unbelievable thing to lose a game that way." Even Weber, who was drawing up the defense to spark the comeback, couldn't keep track of all that happened. "It was just crazy," he said. "We picked up the pace, did a little 2-2-1 zone, denied. Jack made a steal, Dee made a steal and I'm not sure how Deron got the last 3," Weber said. After Williams tied it at 80 in regulation, Salim Stoudamire, the hero of Arizona's semifinal win over Oklahoma State with a last-second game-winner, dribbled the clock down and then passed the ball to Jawann McClellan. He missed, but Stoudamire came up with a loose ball, only to have his shot blocked by Head. "The defense collapsed on me so I wasn't going to force it so I kicked it out to Jawann," said Stoudamire, who managed just nine points under heavy defense from Williams. Williams hit two more 3-pointers in overtime, but Illinois' victory wasn't secured until Arizona's Hassan Adams, who'd scored five points to get the Wildcats within a point, missed a rushed shot just before the final buzzer. Adams couldn't get the ball inside to Channing Frye or drive, so he took the shot. But it wasn't close. "It's extremely hard. ... My disappointment is for the team," Arizona coach Lute Olson said. "I'm disappointed we didn't reach one of our goals. I wish we could have closed it out." Williams, a junior who might leave for the NBA, finished with 22 points, hitting five 3-pointers, and had 10 assists. Head, playing with a sore hamstring, added 20. "We just played very hard down the stretch," Brown said. "Deron Williams, the best guard in America, came through, made a lot of great plays. In the huddle we just said we aren't going to lose this game." Stoudamire had a miserable game, making just 2 of 13 shots -- 1-of-7 on 3-pointers -- his chance of going to the Final Four for the first time as a senior erased. "It was just an off night on my part. I didn't knock the shots down," he said. "I didn't quit though. I tried to do other things on the floor and it just so happens that we came up short." Frye was a force all night and finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots. His 3-pointer with 6:03 left in regulation was the last field goal the Wildcats scored in regulation. Adams scored 21 on 9-of-13 shooting.

was it just +4? Fuk, I cant remember, all I know is I had them ML & spread both for big amounts and a good parlay on spread & over. My dad had over HUGE along with a parlay with TB. We all met at my apartment around noon & started getting drunk & watching all the coverage, me & a buddy were higher than hell! Then we went to a party at a sports bar in Kingsport where our complete tab was on Anheuser Busch because that's how I roll! We went back to my apartment at HT & as soon as the game went over my dad was pretty hammered & insisted we all go to the strip club down the street!

As a result of several parlays, I had $7K riding on one game: LSU at Auburn...and Auburn covered.

for me it wasnt one game it was a futures bet the worst beat i ever took was just a couple years ago i made a bet on the mets to win the division it was mid september when i placed the wager of 5k there was i believe 15 games to go in the season and they had a 7.5 game lead and i thought theres no f@CKIN way they will blow this 7.5 game lead with 2 weeks to go. and it came down to the last day of the season they got crushed by the marlins and the phillies took the division

Many moons ago I had team I believe Seattle for third and final leg of parlay.
Score I believe was 41-7 at half time but quarterback acquired broken leg in third quarter and team lost the game I believe 48-41.

Id say one game that sticks out alot is when I was fairly new to betting bases. Was exploring more than football and bball and was trying my hand at bases. Pedro Martinez as a Met vs Chan Ho Park and the San Diego Padres. Think Mets were -200 as a road favorite. I saw it and thought to myself PEDRO MARTINEZ EZ MONEY like some posters do here nowadays with simliar games. Laid 500 or a lil more to win 250. Well Mets lost that game 8-3, and I learned a lesson that I still apply today. I never lay that much chalk and no matter how easy a game looks, it isn't.

Was still pretty young to the game and it wasnt my biggest bet ever. It is just a game I will probably always remember for some weird reason.

Play-by-play action for the San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets MLB game from August 9, 2005 on ESPN.

the most memorable win for me was a usc/ariz st overtime game in the 90s. This was in the early days of college overtime. I had the ASU -8.5 or -9 ( something like that , >8 anyway) and WON the bet, ASU 48 USC 35. It could never happen again because they changed the rule so that a team can no longer win by more than 1 score. I remember it well because it was on tv and even though I "couldn't win", I watched it to the amazing end.

Just started betting last October after my 18th birthday. This April I put $200 each, a hugeeeeee amount for me, on the Cardinals RL -105, and Cardinals o4.5 at +110, Sunday night game vs the Mets. Wainwright vs. John Maine. Wainwright was 3-0, Maine was 0-3 and getting shelled.

Top of the 2nd, Mets go up 3-0 on this play:

A Pagan singled to right, F Catalanotto and J Francoeur scored, G Matthews to second, G Matthews scored, A Pagan to third on throwing error by pitcher A Wainwright.

Then in the 5th, Colby Rasmus hits a 3-run homer to tie it up at 3. Game stays tied 3-3 going into the 8th. Since the Cardinals were the home team and I had them -1.5, the 8th was my last chance as if they had win in the 9th+ it would have been by one run.

One out, and Adam Wainwright, who La Russa had let hit after being tied through 8, hits a double. Good hitter so wasn't overwhelming surprising. Then, ******* Ryan Ludwick pinch hits and hits a two run bomb to put the Cards up 5-3. So my Cards o4.5 cashes, then Ryan Franklin comes in and shuts down the Mets in the 9th netting me a $400 profit. Since then, I have not bet more than $250 on a game.

Iowa winds up winning 42-24, scoring 4 tds in the 4th. I had a small amount on Indiana and was watching the game on ESPN360, Stanzi pick after Stanzi pick I thought there was no way Indiana wouldn't cover. Hell, I thought they were going to win outright. This was pretty flipping stupid, the ball takes 5 Iowa bounces before landing in the hands of a Hawkeye and he runs it 86 yards for a TD I didn't lay my whole bankroll like others on the game (I have before though, Lakers over Magic last year, Saints this year, some stupid Braves game I lost), but still pretty memorable. If I didn't have money on the game, I wouldn't have been watching the abomination live.
