#4Scared money never wins. You won when you didn't need to. Now that you have to, you can't. I think you're pressing, plus you need that 9-5 as a stabilizing influence. Sincerely wishing you GL in getting things back together.Comment -

#7If true, this story is kind of similar to a movie called "Lost In America" (1985) starring Albert Brooks and Julie Hagerty (Airplane). Might have to rent it again now that I've thought about it, it's a pretty good movie, chances are some people here can relate.Comment -

#17On November 2007, I voluntarily resigned from my corporate job. The daily grind, 60+ miles of commuting, and above all, the 12 hour work days and weekends were a complete burn out after 5+ years. I no longer enjoyed my corporate job and the demanding work schedule.
In the past 3 years, I have not had the opportunity to take any vacation and the conclusion was clear: the job wasn't worth it. For some, the apprehension and prospect of unemployment may have life changing implications. However, my decision to voluntarily resign manifested in early December 2006 and I was financially prepared for this day.
My decision to resign had no relevance to my sports betting hobby. Although the money that I won reached closed to $150,000 in 2 months of the 2007 NFL season, my decision to voluntarily resign had no bearing on the income disparity that I earned from my hobby and my former corporate job. The bottom line was clear: I no longer enjoyed my corporate job and the demanding work schedule became a hardship.
Since two weeks after my resignation, I have experienced an emotional gyration from absolute euphoria to complete disappointment and remorse. In summary, here's how the events evolved:
The 1st week after my resignation consisted of absolute debauchery. I can't emphasize this matter more concisely. Womanizing, strip clubs, Las Vegas, binge eating, and consumption of copious amounts of alcohol. This was an absolute hedonistic experience that satisfied every carnal desire. I will never forget the good times. Thanks, K & T. These two blonde white girls were the BEST. So, what happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas. LOL.
The 2nd week after my resignation was a complete disappointment filled with remorse. I loss $150,000 over a three week period that culminated on Sunday of week 2 since my resignation. The losses were all attributed to sports betting due to the lack of risk management of my bankroll. In other words, I was wagering too high that exposed my bankroll to the risk of ruin.
I have never in the past three years or so in my sports betting hobby sustained more than one week of losses. In this case, I suffered three consecutive weeks of substantial losses as I increased my betting amounts exponentially by 2x's every week over the past 3 weeks. The math calculations that were deployed to predict the outcome of the games were fine. Unfortunately, the NFL teams couldn't deliver on their end of the deal.
In the current state, the remaining funds in my bankroll total $25,000. Although the losses were completely obtained from my winnings (no personal savings or funds were used to cover the losses), the deterioriation of my bankroll has dissolved my plans to remain retired.
For now, the plan is to rest and relax for the next month or so until the end of December 2007. Afterwards, the goal is to seek full-time employment by initiating my job search in January 2008. Preferrably, my job search will concentrate on employment opportunities with a shorter commute and a more balanced work / life schedule.
Unless I am able to sustain a rally of wins for the remaining 5 weeks of the NFL season, my intent is to risk an additional $10,000 of the remaining $25,000 balance in my bankroll. If I am able to successfully win $100,000 in the remaining 5 weeks of the NFL season, I will remain retired. If not, it's back to the grind working a corporate job. just give me the ticket!
glad to hear that they'll give you a 55k limit (do they know your name/address?) but you have to be the exception to the rule these days. all running scared that you'll bet big at every mgm owned property on the same side.Comment -

#27Really what I meant is that you say you'll look starting 01-01-08. Other people will make the same attempt as well starting 01-01-08 for whatever reason they have. The point is the early bird catches the worm. The 3 or 4 extra weeks in December may benefit you vs. starting to look on 01-01-08, LComment -
