U.S. Company Responds to European Union Online Gambling Lawsuit
Hop-on, a U.S. Company, Responds to European Union Online Gambling Lawsuit

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hop-on, Inc. (OTC:HPNN), a leading developer and marketer of wireless phones and accessories, takes European Union Trade Commissioner’s claims head-on.

European Union Trade Commissioner, Peter Mandelson, told reporters he believes the United States must change an Internet gambling law preventing European companies from offering services in the U.S. market, before he heads to Capitol Hill to discuss the issue with U.S. lawmakers.

But American company Hop-on, Inc. stands staunchly against his claim.

Hop-on, Inc., through its president, Peter Michaels, is speaking out to protect the industry from foreign competition and ensure millions of dollars in taxes remain in the U.S.

Since Congress has passed a broad online gambling ban, EU-based gambling firms have sought as much as $100 billion in compensation for being shut out of the U.S. market.

As the only American handset manufacturer currently developing software, as well as licensing and regulations for online gambling via mobile phones, Hop-on, Inc. is filling the market demand. Hop-on, Inc. will accept bets from WTO Countries to prevent the need for them to sue the U.S. Hop-on, Inc. accepting bets will keep millions of tax dollars flowing back to the American government. As a U.S.-based company, revenues will benefit American interests.

“It is outrageous that foreign interests are trying to sue America for upwards of $100 billion,” says Hop-on, Inc.’s Michaels. “There is no need for our country to allow outsiders to profit, when Hop-on, Inc. offers the best mobile gambling services, while keeping the revenues within our own country. Hop-on, Inc. will be taking bets from WTO Countries as soon as possible, while continuing to pay taxes as an American company.”

Americans have some of the worst mobile providers in the entire world.

I remember being in the Philippines a few years ago, and could text message to the most remote parts of the islands because cell sites were being put up everywhere and the 2 Cell providers were working hard to provide a cost efficient means of communication for the whole population. The poorest of individuals could buy a inexpensive cell phone and text for pesos a day using GSM standards. No contracts, only buy the phone, buy a SIM card and load the think with prepaid cards. US citizens are just getting the hang of cheap text messaging and prepaid phones while the rest of the world has been enjoying those services for years....

Meanwhile, in the US I still get poor (to no) signals in my own backyard, and pay outrageous monthly fees, and cannot unlock my phone (or swap my sim card) without risking validation of my contract or warranty. Prepaid phones are available in the US, but most of those phones are junk or don't provide services I want (blackberry, internet services....).

Greed and bureaucratic incompetence have caused the US to lag behind the rest of the world's cellular services; however the US Govt still works to slow down innovation by allowing the lobbyists of greedy mobile corporations to generate a variety of red tape and layers of unnecessary government standards and regulations. (The Philippines is an example some of the worst products of democratic corruption; however they somehow understood the need to bypass the corruption (and bureaucratic red tape) and allowed (or were paid off?) the cell companies to provide efficient and cheap cellular communications years ago.

The US wants to think it is an island within itself. The EU and the rest of the world is moving past the US in many aspects of technology and communications with one glaring exception: Military technology.

....And the iphone - decent browser to place on-line bets with (but HATE the touch screen keyboard).
