Best bets for PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship

Hudson Swafford won last week's event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and the tour next heads to Jackson, Mississippi, for the Sanderson Farms Championship, where Sebastian Munoz is the defending champion.

Who is underrated, and whom should you fade? What bets and props are worth a look?

Sports betting deputy editor David Bearman and fantasy analyst Anita Marks offer their best bets.

    Bets to win

Will Zalatoris 18-1; Zalatoris (-143) over Adam Long (+110 at DraftKings)

Marks: I liked Zalatoris a few weeks ago at the U.S. Open, where he finished eighth. Prior to Winged Foot, Zalatoris dominated the Korn Ferry Tour. He is coming off a final-round 65 on Sunday, and I see Zalatoris picking up where he left off, dominating a lackluster field.
    Long 33-1

Bearman: Despite his fading to a Sunday 75 last week, I like the way Long is playing. He finished T-5 and was in the thick of things as the 54-hole leader until Sunday's round. Prior to the T-5, Long finished T-13 at Winged Foot for his first top-15 in a major in his fifth attempt. He had two runners-up in the 2019-20 season, including at the 3M Open in July. With some unfinished business from last week in the back of his mind, he returns to the Country Club of Jackson after a T-23 last season. He has a recent victory under his belt, winning in Cali at the beginning of 2018-19 season. You can find some future stars in the fall season of the PGA Tour, and Long looks to be one of those breakout players.

Carlos Ortiz 50-1 to win; 6-1 Top-10 finish

Bearman: Sometimes when you have a field devoid of the top players, you have to dig a little deeper. Only one person in the field this week has consecutive top-5 finishes at the Country Club of Jackson, and his name is Carlos Ortiz. Ortiz finished T-3 two years ago, with a final-round 64, and entered the final round last year in second place before a 71. All eight of his rounds here have been under par, making him a threat this weekend. Besides the Sanderson Farms, Ortiz had a very good fall season last year, with three top-10s, including a runner-up finish at Mayakoba. If you don't want to pick him to win at 50-1, getting 6-1 for a top 10 is a safer play.

    Prop bets

Sam Burns 7-1 Top-5 finish; Burns (-118) over Corey Conners (-112 at DK)

Marks: Burns has a nice history on this track, finishing T-3 in 2019, and is 3-for-3 making cuts. As of late, Burns is toward the top in strokes gained tee to green, and I like his matchup against Conners, who missed the cuts and whose game is off at the moment.

Doc Redman +350 Top-10 finish; Redman (-125) over Bud Cauley (-106 at DK)

Marks: This course should set up nicely for Redman. Not very many golfers are striking the ball better at the moment than Doc, who has finished in the top five in two of his past three starts.

Patrick Rodgers (-105) over Si Woo Kim (-118)

Marks: Rodgers performs well on this track and has made three straight cuts here, including two top-20 finishes. Rodgers can crush the ball, and driving distance is needed to win. Rodgers will also be putting on Bermuda greens, on which he has had a lot of success.
