    Why Pepsi Arena?

Pepsi was founded in North Carolina and is a NY company for over 100 years.

Usually these naming rights go with a local major employer....anyone know what Pepsi has going on in Denver?

There are huge Denver based companies...

    **
    Aarow
    Ball
    Dish Network

There's a Pepsi bottle or wholesaler in almost every County in America let alone every state.

I don't understand how or why Pepsi bought these rights....

Anyone from out west know if Pepsi has some subsidiary out there?

Think of all the beverages produced in Colorado.

    From Coors to Blue Moon
    Fat Tire to Breckenridge
All the gourmet sodas and mountain water

Why Pepsi? Just curious why Denver, of all cities mostly associated with hipsters and a buy local movement, would prefer to name their government owned stadium after a large NY based company that has no preferred presence in Denver that's better or worse than any other city....

It's like naming Coke stadium in Vancouver and not Georgia...

Putting the Busch name on a stadium in Puerto Rico....

Herhey's name on a field in South Dakota....

    It's weird

MINNY Fats is probably on his $3000 leather Chastain couch watching the game on his $2000 72 inch 4khd with about 5k on the Nuggets and screaming at the screen so much that he drove his 2 dogs and his wife away and is just making conversation with anyone he can?
Did I get any of this right, Fats?

We got such a nice draw that year. From Boston to Albany. Could never forget that. That’s awesome that you were there. It was an insane atmosphere on TV. Ran through the Big 12. I was 15 years old, sweating it out on my living room floor. I’m hoping I can enjoy one like that live before JB retires.

For the Elite 8 game against Oklahoma, the sea of Orange was deafening. Remember all the complaining from Sampson about the home court advantage?
We deserved a good draw after decades of getting seeded out west.

Found this. Very interesting. Arena was 1st to follow this model. Naming (and pouring) rights were used in a financing package...Bear Stearns, hence the New York connection.

Yep, he was whining even though we spanked them with no issues. We earned the draw that year, and from years past. Would have beat them in Norman anyway. Okie State gave us a better game than they did.

Who knows these days. People looking for something deeper than the fact that Pepsi said...that looks good, we’ll take it. Maybe expanding their brand. Who the fck just stays where they’re located if they wanna make big money.

    Guys, post #21

Pepsi paid upfront as part of a Bear Stears financing package.

This arena was the 1st publicly traded arena stock.

That's the NY connection, and how Pepsi got roped into it.
