Hate to admit it.... might have a little to do with Lebron James not in the playoffs.

Something has to change... I don't know what you'd do next?

They thought higher scoring games would make people watch??? Doesn't seem like that worked at all.

    It's the super teams

Absent 4 major stacked teams there's empathy if not hate towards the league and it's plsyers

Noone wants to watch in MN (Butler); NO (Davis), CHICAGO, CLE (James); CHA (Paul); Seattle / Vancouver area (lost teams); PHX just straight garbage; Florida/ ATL out.

Look at all the massive markets that couldn't care less here or that are burned by players. Wait till Giannis leaves Milwaukee or if the Nets don't extend Diangelo...NYC #2 market in country, Milwaukee gotta be top 15....

A lot of alienated would be viewers

Everybody I know that follows the sport closely streams the games. I doubt those numbers are included. Especially through reddit & other streaming forums.

But the TV ratings are irrelevant for the most part. Those television contracts are locked in. It’s really about who has the attention.

The NBA is dominating the online world. Twitter, Instagram, YouTube etc. 75 million followers between the 3 platforms. Other leagues are not even close.

If you think the NBA has a problem because TV ratings are down then you are way out of tune my friend. Or just old lol.

players and coaches making political statements and faking hate crimes (lebron) never helps

stupid to insult and be racist to the majority of your ticket buyers, and expect them to keep paying/watching

Baseball has the chance to capitalize on legal sports gambling more so then the other leagues I believe. Make it a come to the ballpark only type thing. Can you imagine betting the outcome of each at bat, eating a hot dog & drinking a beer at [insert your local MLB ballpark]

Could be great & revive the sport. Would be nice to see some of these ballparks fill up. Even if it’s a bunch of degenerates filling em lol

Nobody wants to watch games that end by 30-40 points and series that end 4-0 or 4-1 unless you bet on it

Yeah, everything on instagram is NBA clips when it comes to sports. And another note, aside from soccer (which Americans don't give a f about), NBA athletes have the most instagram followers by far.

    1. Had no idea Breitbart has a sports section.

    2. Lets check back in after round 2. Even as an nba fan I had no interest in watching any of the round 1 series outside of OKC-Portland and Philly-BK(because I a fan). Plan on watching as of the next round as possible.

Check the ratings after the next round of games. They will be much higher due to amazing matchups in 2nd round

NBA is so desperatel for ratings. They try so hard to get games spread out and begin series on weekends etc. If a fan really wants to watch they will.

are any sports UP in ratings in the last 3-5 years compared to 10 years ago?

its not the sports or athletes that are the issue

its the cord cutting with cable and all the other ways you can consume the games these days

everyone wants to blame the drastic shift in our media choices and how the new generation engages on specific grievences they have with the leagues/players/owners

except no one that I see blaming these things, has actually stopped watching themselves.... hmmmmm

"Few" may be a stretch as that usually indicates more than 2. Last couple minutes is understandable.

I watched more NHL as the 1st round of playoffs were much more exciting than the 1st round of the NBA. Will watch more of the NBA 2nd round as the matchups will be more competitive.
