He revealed that rookie starting quarterback Josh Rosen not only led the team down the field for a game-winning touchdown, he also called it and fired up his teammates in the process, showing leadership and also revealing an alleged pottymouth.
Humphries, asked by a reporter what the rookie told the offense before the final drive, let it slip, expletive and all, out. “We’re going to (expletive) win this game,” he said Rosen told them.
Humphries got excited when he heard Rosen say it.
Rosen wouldn’t confirm exactly what he said, though did confirm it was “something with expletives.”
He doesn’t always cuss in the huddle. “I always try to give some sort of tidbit as I’m walking into the huddle,” he said. “Sometimes I try to make them laugh, sometimes (I) motivate them a little bit, so I guess they needed a little something.”
Larry Fitzgerald jokingly denied it ever happened. He wouldn’t admit his quarterback would say such a thing.
“Josh doesn’t use profanity. He’s a classy guy,” he said, then taking a shot at old teammate Carson Palmer. “If he had gone to like USC where Carson went or Matt Leinart, he might have said something like that, but he’s a clean-cut guy from UCLA.”
Rosen proved to be a playmaker, a prophet and a motivator.
