I thought about getting that, but didnt like the voice package they had. I can just go to espn on my phone and get scores and stuff. With a much better voice plan.

I see this is now at Best Buy. If anyone goes and checks this out, let us know how it is. Whenever I go to Best Buy I will check it out, but not making a special trip for it.

Im tempted to go check it out. I called them to see about data usage and if I could add to my sprintpcs account since they use the Sprint Network. But they said they just use their towers and are a different company.

I also asked them if they had a evaluation period. The guy said 30 days no questions asked. So you can try out for 30 days and cancel without being charged a cancellation fee. If I decide to do it, I will ask about this again, just to be sure.

I like that the fact it has gamecast and the bottom line. Also has the fantasy manager for the ESPN fantasy games. Just seems like a all around good package for sports fans.

Here are the details on the plans:

            Plan Cost:
            100 minutes a month $34.99
            450 minutes a month $64.99
            900 minutes a month $84.99
            1350 minutes a month $104.99
            2000 minutes a month $124.99
            3000 minutes a month $174.99
            4000 minutes a month $224.99

            Sports Features:
SIDELINE - Easy access to teams, players, scores, stats and information.
SCOREBOARDS - Up-to-the-minute scoreboards from around the country.

Thinking about trying out the 100 package since I already have a great mobile package through SprintPCS. This would just be for sports information and updates.

I have no idea, I just know they said they are their own company, but use the Sprint towers. So they could be their own cell company, not using another provider.

Like T-Mobile uses the Cingular towers I think. They just pay to use the towers, but are their own company.

Something along those lines. I cant say for sure.

Has anyone bought this service since the last time I posted about it? That looks like February 20th. If I didnt have the need for a smartphone, I think I would go pick this phone up and sign up for the service.

I thought about trying it for the 14 or so days where you can cancel before getting locked into the contract. Just to see how well it works, then take it back and cancel.

So is there anyone out there, lerkers and members, that are currently signed up with Mobile ESPN? If so, how is it?

Thats a A900 (Samsung's Blade), very nice phone. Thats the one I bought my wife in December. Its a pretty thin phone. Good to see ESPN upgrading their phone.

I have been using T-mobile for 4 years too after I gave up with Nextel.

I'm about to google on if Tmbile does use Cingular.

I just got this and thought I would give my two cents...

First, I am thoroughly satisfied. I think the prices have gone way down. The phone was free and I am paying $39.99 for 400 minutes and unlimited night and weekend minutes.

As for the sports stuff, it's almost like following the game via the internet. I can be downstairs watching TV with the family rather than glued to the computer upstairs, so that's a good thing. I think updates are about 10-15 seconds off real time, but that's close enough for me. And it's not streaming gamecast like on the internet -- you pretty much need to keep your thumb on the refresh button.

I got the 30 day free trial for the major sports upgrade package that includes video and will not be keeping it. First, it's $25 a month. Second, while extremely cool, a lot of the video clips are taken straight from the previous day's Sportscenter. So there is really no need.

The phone delivers odds from four different sportsbooks, including Pinnacle. It's your basic line and total, none of the special props.

Sports coverage is top notch. You can spend hours on the phone reading articles. Plus, the alerts are pretty cool. If you have big money on a game, you can set the phone to alert you anytime there is a score. Of course, they count as text messages and you only get 100 per month free. You have to pay extra if you want more. For baseball, you can set it to alert you following the end of the 3rd, 6th and 9th innings, so I expect the same can be done in football following each quarter.

I haven't played with Internet much, but I know my wife has a gmail account and can check her email from the phone. I think there might be a slight fee with Internet (.0025 cents per KB) so I haven't checked WSEX or Pinny to see if I can place bets on the phone, but I suspect you can.

I love the phone. I used up a lot of favors convincing my wife to go with this over T-Mobile and I am still hearing her complain about it (since her entire family is on T-Mobile), but it was well worth it. We are locked in to a two-year contract and I couldn't be happier.
