OT: This is why i don't fly airlines operated by USA companies anymore
if you ever flew international on United, American, or Northwest, you'll notice all the flight attendants are either old women or gay men. can't say the european airlines are much better. but singapore airlines is the best, china airlines are also nice, ANA and JAL are great too...never seen a female attendant over 35. if i am shelling out couple of thousand dollars for an international flight, i don't really want to see some old hag for 12 hours.

i don't fly southwest because it feels like a bus, but they kicked out couple of hot girls for showing too much...that is just ridiculous.

Another woman dressed too sexy to fly?
Sept. 11: A California woman claims that Southwest Airlines nearly kicked her off a flight because of the way she was dressed. KNBC's Patrick Healy reports.

It doesn’t take much to get thrown off an airplane these days, as Kyla Ebbert found out when a Southwest Airlines employee told her she was too bare for the air. Two months later, she’s still trying to figure out what was wrong with her outfit.

In an exclusive appearance Friday on TODAY, Ebbert modeled the outfit she says she wore on the flight in question. It consisted of a snug-fitting white top with a scoop neck that stopped just short of showing cleavage.

Over the shirt was a green sweater that buttoned underneath her bosom. It was finished with high-heeled sandals and a white denim mini-skirt with a fashionably frayed hem.

It was a lot more clothing than the 23-year-old college student wears on her job as a Hooters waitress. Her mother, Michele Ebbert, said she would have told her daughter if the outfit was inappropriate.

“But her outfit is fine, Michele Ebbert told TODAY co-host Matt Lauer. “She looks like every other college girl in San Diego.”

Not according to a Southwest employee identified only as “Keith,” who approached Ebbert after she had taken her seat on the plane and was listening to the flight attendants go through their pre-departure routine.

He asked her to step off of the plane and when they were in the jetway, he told her that her clothing was inappropriate and asked her to change her clothes.

“He told me, ‘I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to take a later flight. You’re dressed inappropriately. This is a family airline. You’re dressed too provocative to fly on this flight,’ ” she told Lauer.

“I said, ‘What part of it, the shirt, the skirt? Which part?’ “ Ebbert continued, recounting her conversation with Keith about her outfit. “And he said, ‘The whole thing.’“ I said, ‘I didn’t bring any luggage with me. I don’t have anything to change into. What can I do to make sure I can get onto that flight?’ I had a doctor’s appointment. I had to be there.”

“He said ‘You can go to the gift shop and you can buy something to wear there. Until then, you’re not flying on this flight,’ ” Ebbert said.

A compromise was finally reached when Ebbert promised to pull up her top, which wasn’t showing cleavage to begin with, and pull down her tiny skirt.

Ebbert went back onto the plane and to her seat, feeling that every eye on the plane was staring at her.

“I was humiliated. I was embarrassed. They all heard him lecturing me,” she said.

She asked for a blanket, covered her legs, and cried quietly all the way to Tucson. When she got off the plane, she called her mother.

“She was just devastated,” Michele told Lauer. “She said, ‘Mom, I can’t believe what just happened to me.’ She was. She said ‘I didn’t want to make a scene. I didn’t want to draw attention. I just sat there crying.’ ”

    No apology
When Michele saw a picture her daughter emailed from her cell phone, she couldn’t believe what had happened. She also thought to herself, “Oh, no. They don’t do this and get away with it.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune called Southwest Airlines and asked if the airline had a dress code. Could, for example, a woman board wearing a bikini top?

The newspaper on Tuesday quoted the Southwest agent it spoke with as saying, “We don't have a problem with it if she's covered up in all the right spots. We don't have a dress code.”

The Ebberts had not gone public with the story, which happened two months ago, asking only for an apology from the airline. But none was forthcoming.

In response to a TODAY Show query, the airline sent the following statement: "Southwest Airlines was responding to a concern about Ms. Ebbert's revealing attire on the flight that day. As a compromise, we asked her to adjust her clothing to be less revealing, she complied, and she traveled as scheduled. When a concern is brought to our Employees' attention, we address that situation directly with the Customer(s) involved in a discreet and professional manner. Fortunately, as an airline that carries approximately 96 million Customers a year, these situations are extremely rare."

The Ebberts have engaged an attorney, Martin Reed, to help them decide what to do next.

Asked if he will file suit, Reed told Lauer, “We’ve not made that decision, yet. We’re considering all the facts and all the circumstances.”

“Initially, I just wanted an apology,” Kyla told Lauer. “At this point, just some acknowledgement that they were wrong. That would be better.”

What really tops the whole story off is that Ebbert wore the same outfit on the return flight to San Diego later that day. A female flight attendant also took note of it, according to Ebbert.

“I was complimented by the stewardess on my return flight,” she said.

This is obviously a guy who hasn't been laid in a while. Maybe one of those head cases who resent women showing skin. A tight white top, unbuttoned sweater, and mini skirt is really that out of the ordinary for 20 something yo girls?

i think the rule should be if you're under 35 and hot, you can wear anything you want

I fly Southwest now and again.

Here's the real reason for the "skimpy outfit" ejections:

Some prostitutes are using the airline to troll for clients. Not one night stands, but guys who fly a lot and would like something steady for when they land and stay over for a night or two.

The ladies seem to feel that this beats hanging around in the bars of expensive hotels near the airport. They can sit next to their mark (they always board flights that are underbooked) and have quite a long time to engage in casual conversation. And make their pitch shortly before the plane lands.

I've seen it happen more than once, often in and out of
Vegas, mostly out. The gals do dress provocatively, of course, to display their wares. (And fares from LV to West Coast cities are cheap enough)

I've seen this gambit three times - twice successful for the hooker, and once no go (to my surprise, the old guy seemed quite flattered that the sexy broad seemed so smitten by him - but when she made her pitch he mentioned his wife and family).

I can understand why SW is concerned about becoming known as a flying brothel. (Tho I've nothing against the ladies of the night, and in fact some years ago lived for a few years with one of the working gals - no, never took money from her, tho it was offered. We split when she started to talk too much about marriage - the old story.)

One of the ladies propped herself down on the empty seat next to me on one flight, and shortly began a conversation. I leaned over and whispered something to the effect that I would love to talk to her all flight long, but that I wasn't in the market for "love for sale." A few minutes later she pretended to go to the bathroom, returned and took a seat about 12 aisles up., next to a sixtyish businessman. Paydirt! Good for her.

But i do understand why the airline wants to discourage this type thing. I was wondering when they would finally tip to it.

          wow, thanks for the input.

i didn't know about this, but this is a nice way to get a call girl, at least more upscale than bars. once you land you have a gal accompany you to the hotel. it does seem like a great idea.

since s.w. have cheap fares, i guess it is profitable for those girls using s.w. as a flying borthel. i have nothing against that...actually i think that is a great idea

if those two girls are actually looking for johns on the airplane, then dateline nbc will have a field day over this.

that is a crazy story, if that is what these women do. i know if they're willing to shill out money for a airline ticket to take a chance at landing a john, they must be some high-class hoes, or at least they better be.

and your right about dateline, they would have a field day with this.

if you ever tried one of those vegas hookers, you'll realize those two girls who got kicked off are pretty good compare to those call girls in the magazines. i'd shell out couple of g for one for those hotties on the plane during my business trip. it is definitely worth their ticket investment.

                    Maybe we should

just let the FEdS decide what we should wear on flights, they control everything anyway. As far as I know there is no dress code on flights, I have seen guys in their boxer shorts on board,. If I was her I would sue, the airline has no right to tell her what to wear, I wish I was on that flightmmmm good

I should have made clear that I wasn't implying that the woman in the story posted by Picoman may have been a "working girl." No doubt she was what she claimed to be.

The true working girls are often easy to spot - right in the waiting area. They won't sit so much, but rather will walk around, parade around that is to say, and note any appreciative glances from gentlemen, esp those that seem well-dressed and well-heeled. And alone.

Then they sit next to them when they board. They probably know which flights are likely to be underbooked, so as to be assured of plenty of open seats. I heard one lady tell her mark that she had no luggage, that she left Vegas so fast tht she didn't have time to pack. (I'd guess her airplane john sprung for a new outfit or two for her, after a lustful night)

LOL. Just be sure you're on a lightly filled flight. IE, don't travel to LV on a Friday, or leave on a Sun nite or Monday. Plane likely to be filled at those times. Try mid-week.

I fly southwest to Vegas at least once a month. The flight is about 45 minutes to an hour. I have never experienced a working girl on my flight. Hopefully that will change soon. That's one of my fantasies to meet a random hot girl on a plane next to me and F*** her brains out! If I have to pay for it to happen, Fvck it!
