According to Chris "Sources" Broussard himself, the Clippers offered Griffin and Lance for Jokic, Barton, Gallo, and Faried, but the Nuggets turned them down.
Earlier, there were reports that the Clippers and Nuggets were engaged in trade talks, to which Dan Woike and Doc Rivers himself more or less denied. However, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard, Doc was actually the one making an offer and it was for a massive depth increase with the Denver Nuggets. Let me preface this all by saying: we all saw Doc say on camera that Blake is ours, so at the end of the day, I'm going to believe that. However, when there is smoke, there is usually some fire.
Regarding the actual trade, it's an interesting one, but one I'm ultimately not a huge fan of. I think it's easy to understand why the Nuggets say no to this: Blake Griffin and Lance don't push you over the edge, and losing THAT much depth for a potential 2 years Griffin rental is hard to swallow, even if it is 2 years with a legitimate superstar. Regarding the Clippers' side, I understand the idea of it, but I'm not a fan at all. Faried would be nearly unplayable next to Jordan with their lack of spacing (not to mention Faried is overpaid and has very poor defense), and while Gallo is a Top 10 SF, he's injury prone. Jokic and Barton are really nice pieces, but ultimately, I don't think those are the right pieces for Blake Griffin. Rumor or not, it didn't happen, and I can gladly say it's a good thing that it didn't happen. If this did happen, I would most likely be found driving around aimlessly in Los Angeles looking for Doc Rivers' phone number to tell him not to do it.
