    OT: for USA bitorrent users
for those of you who are in the states and use torrentspy, you probably noticed that recently you can't use it because torrentspy is blocking all US IPs. this is due to a lawsuit that force torrentspy to track its users, so instead of complying, they simply blocked all US IPs. this is a way for torrentspy to circumvent the law and protect visitor's privacy. i think this is a good move for torrentspy...instead of bending to US law, they're saying, "**** you, your country is a nazi state, now we're only serving part of the world where the internet is free".

first pinnacle, then neteller, now torrentspy. i don't even want to think about where this is heading, but at least for now there are enough alternatives to those blocked sites.

Torrentspy's decision to stop accepting US visitors was NOT compelled by any Court rather it arises out of an uncertain legal climate in the United States regarding user privacy and the apparent tension between US and European Union Internet privacy laws.

so in other words, they voluntarily withdraw from the US...like pinnacle

Big difference between pirating music, movies and other copyrighted content and the deterring of personal freedoms ... IMO

I agree. I used to download stuff myself, but it didn't feel right after a while. Now I use iTunes for all my music needs, .99 a song.

If you saw the Simpsons movie, I think they've told us where this may be headed...

The town of Springfield was trapped inside a concentration camp and left to die. THEY WERE CUT OFF FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD AND NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE! If you know about the TPTB's MO, they always tell what they're gonna do before they do it.

It's hardly the end of the world. Have you tried masking your IP and then running a search?

I was downloading too much porn from there anyway. This should give me an extra 10 hours a week to do more productive things

this doesn't really effect me. my friend told me about it. it is just baby steps towards total internet censorship.

that is where it is heading. everything is going legit in the US, so i guess if you feel it is okay to pay for everythign you download, i guess there is no problem at all.

i think piracy is wrong, but i hate the big corporations like microsoft, so i don't feel bad at all when peopel download pirated copy of windows.
