. . . alive and well (physically at least) and living in So Calif!
Let me first say that tho I have over the last 4,5 years visited other forums, I'd never heard of Coach Hank, or JJ Gold as he calls himself here.
It's because I come to such sites, not so much for "personalities" and anyone's 15 minutes of fame, or 15,000 posts to posterity, but for info on books, and sometime some sports talk or argument.
Hard to miss a "character" here tho. So I took note of Coach Hank, and some of his posts here, including the stange Youtube videos.
And then I recalled another Coach Hank I'd heard of a few years ago.
Yes, this guy is called both Coach and Hank. I don't know him, never met him, and don't know his last name. A few friends do tho, and they tell me he's called "Coach" because he somewhat resembles Pat O'Brien playing Knute Rockne.
From what I know of him, he is very familiar with offshore.
He is also quite respected at the place he bets, as a Sharp. And a heavy bettor, tho I'm told he lives in Section 8 housing, either in the LA/Orange Co area, or San Deigo. Thinks nothing tho of pushing 2 grand on a game across the cashier window where he often plays.
He bets regularly at the Caliente Sports Books in Tijuana, just across the San Diego border. At the upstairs book at Pueblo Amigo, I'm told, where he is well-known. (This place puts a tax of 1.5% on the win part of a sports wager, which sort of indicates that no true Sharp would be betting there; at the same time I'm told that because it's mostly ultra-square Mexican peasants betting their few pesos into football lines (Caliente has around 150 books thoroughout Mexico, and their lines reflect a helluva lot of bets) the numbers on hot favorites in nationally televised games are exagerrated, sometime 3 pts more than closing Vegas and offshore lines. So maybe . . .)
This duplicate Coach Hank is often approached by American square bettors for his opinions on games.
And - he appears to be a bit of a nut. I mean, I don't wish to be offensive to Mr Gold, or Mr Webber, whom I don't know - but by George is there a friggin' doppelganger at work here?
A friend ran into the SoCal Coach Hank a few weeks ago, at the Caliente book, and (as per my prior request) asked him if he ever posted a sports betting forum.
This Coach Hank, my friend reported, went into a long, angry rambling diatribe, disconnected and strange. Perhaps not unlike what the Coach Hank/JJ Gold might do . . .
I was going to bet my friend who know this Coach Hank that they are one and the same person, but my friends says absolutely not, and refuses to take my money . . . (He tells me that "his" Coach Hank speaks with a bit of a lisp.)
Let me access my email to get what this doppelganger Coach Hank told my friend, as he dropped a few names that indicates he has wide contacts. Back shortly.
