    I hope not.

What he did was wrong and he should pay. But he should be able to try out and make an NFL team if he is good enough. Looks like ke will be about 30 when he gets out.

Would you like Vick to be your 3rd string QB for the league minimum? I sure would.

It's all going to depend on whats said on the 27th John. If the plea bargain states that gambling was a big issue, then it's possible he could very well be suspended for life.

I don't know John, the new commish is making examples out of people. I say 40% chance he bans Vick for life...

I stated this in another thread, but these are my thoughts in regard to this topic. He'll miss a season or two after he's released, he'll be able to play again if he's in shape at 30 and teams are still interested. He'll donate a bunch to animal rights groups, say all the right things, etc. He'll get a second chance with some struggling team for a fraction of his old pay, obviously with no endorsement deals ever again.

Excellent post! I think you nailed it. But he is 27 right? Looks like he will serve 24 months give or take a couple. If he takes another year off well, I guess he will be about 31 or so.

They were obviously gambling but not on NFL games. I read the indictment, mostly low stakes. $500 a contest was common. These dogs did not fight until the death like a cock fight. Of course I guess some of them should have.

Oh the girl? I dont know. I found this old pic. It was from when we had our sign delivered to our office in Costa Rica. I think she worked for the sign company...Ticas are pretty tough.

If Vick shows contrition, and handles himself properly in and out of prison, perhaps donates a chunk of money and time to the PETA folks, etc, then I think he will be back by Sept 2009.

I think the judge will give him 18 months, but he'll get out on "good behavior" in one year.

Remember, the Feds wanted him to get 18 to 24 months -- so it's a safe bet that the judge will give him about 18 months, but he won't serve all 18 months. Let's put on our legal caps friends, we know how these sentences go, and what length of time is actually served..

I thought it was 24-36. I'm guessing the Judge will give him the full amount or maybe like 33 months. He will have to serve 75% of that.

i think he will be in jail about a year, and will be banned for life. they have enough to ban him for life. he was gambling up to 50k a dogfight i read somewhere. he executed 8+ dogs...

plus, what teams fans would support him? could you imagine what they would do?

mike vick will go down as the biggest NFL QB bust ever, NOT ryan leaf.....

We are very forgiving here in the US, sometimes to a fault. While I feel what Vick did is horrific, I do believe that if he says and does the right things... if he says AND does the right things... he will be back in the NFL by Sept 2009.

No way. Vick might go down as the biggest QB tragedy in history for throwing away 117 mil and 2+ yrs of his life, but he was no bust. He won in Lambeaux Field in the playoffs back in his 2nd season, and then took his team to the NFC Championship game in 2004.

Ryan Leaf, Heath Schuler, and others.. these are the biggest QB busts in NFL history..

Keep in mind guys he will be gone for a couple of years. People will calm down. The dog activists will find a new cause de jour. And ole Mike will walk out of prision having settled his debt in full.

The NFL would be smart to give him a 3 year suspension starting now.

Also after he pays his debt to society by serving his time, donating money to animal rights groups, doing all that positive work, it won't be the popular position to degrade him publicly. He'll continue being a late night TV punchline sure, but from an NFL broadcasting perspective they will not continue to associate him with his past, because doing so reflects back on them. I'm positive there will be a few coaches willing to give him a shot, especially since if he can perform reasonably well they're picking him up for such a great price. The NFL is not going to attack his livelihood and ban him for life, he'll already have been punished thoroughly for his actions.

I will be surprised if he serves more than a year. His attorneys will likely tell the judge he wants to make up for what he did by beginning with a big donation pre sentencing to PETA or a similar humane society group.

He'll be back in the league shortly thereafter. Look for him in Dallas or Oakland.

If I was a betting man... errrrr... as a betting man, I would wager significant coin that Vick gets an 18 month sentence, and serves roughly 1 yr of it before being released..

Remember, he has no prior convictions, and is pleading out. My hunch is that the judge will have some leniency on him, although I'm not sure it's deserved. What remains to be seen is what the state DA does in the case..

Vick will take up the gospel in jail and come out an evangelist. He will be allowed back in the NFL, but will renounce the league for its violence, and because there is far more money in singing the praises of the Lord on tv. He will become a role model for every innocent brother who ever found himself behind bars. Eventually, the black votes will propel him into the White House.

There is only one scenario that could prevent this. That is if Vick changes his name to Mohammad and his faith to Islam. (In that case, he will still end up in the White House, but in the cockpit of a plane).

This is a federal charge correct? If that is the case (and I believe it is) he will serve whatever he is gets in his plea bargin... no parole in the federal system...
