4 hours in hell with Money Gram
Just spent the last four hours in hell dealing with moneygram.
Used the net to send a lousy 500 bucks to a store. Signed up did all the bs and thought everything was great. Next, I get an email telling me they need more info. Call them up and the first question they ask is--how do you know this person, I say a friend, next they ask me, why are you sending this money, I give some bs answer, they then ask me what organization and I explode. "Why are you asking me personal information?, I think you are violating my rights" I tell them never mind I will use **, not even knowing if ** is still viable. Obviously the US gov. has instructed moneygram to question any deposits to Spanish sounding names and countries and islands doing gaming business. If you check out moneygram home page you will see that they note they will not transfer money for gambling purposes. I think this is relatively new since I received payoffs at the end of 2006 foot.

Hate to get politicaly. But, any serious player that votes R in the national elections needs to see a doctor. The sob's, almost unilaterally passed this bill. I believe they only had two or three D's in support. And now a bunch of D's joined by one or two R's are trying to reverse it.

I thought the ahole R's wanted to stay out of our lives. Everything they do, and say is a freakin lie. God they make me puke.

It's much easier to just send WUs in person.

            Agreed Ganchrow.

It would only take you about an hour till you have the money in your account if you go that route.

I understand the frustration, but you can deflect those questions with a bunch of bold faced lies. The $10 an hour clerks ultimately aren't going to give a shit. They are just following instructions.

I have used money gram several times with only minor problems.Once the clerk used a domestic code for an international wire and the whole thing had to be canceled and properly resubmitted. One other time the wire was sent to a country in Africa and that also had to be canceled and sent again. The fact they are questioning these transfers is troubling. I use Walmart when funding accounts and that may be a smoke screen. If this is a new policy for Money Gram the off-shore businesses need to come up with a counter measure.

Most of the time either option is smooth in person. Online though, it's too much of a hassle. These employees think they're secret agents with their prying interrogations, it probably makes their job more fun.

I have no inside info but I do think this is instigated by US
government and if so it is only a small matter of time until ** will instruct everybody, even the 18 year old kid at WalMart, to question or even report these transfers. I realize that in person ** is still okay. I hope it remains okay but I am skeptical and concerned.

We still have bank wires but they are a pain in the butt and take anywhere form 5 to 10 days. Cashiers' checks via Fed Ex may be the next best out. And that can be a pain in the butt too.

Question: If BoDog and 5dimes have echeck why can't these other stores? Granted 300 and 500 is a bit of a joke but it is a start. Anybody think these deposit methods are questionable?

Crazy, huh. Funny, that was my nickname as a kid. Now, it is senile.

You're right though you must do it in person, I thought I would get lazy and I knew that it worked before.
But, the times they are a changin.

I did w u to betjam today from my local Publix grocery store, took less than 2 minutes and they didnt ask for any kind of id.

Took about 5 minutes to hit my account after calling Bet Jam. This wasnt my preffered method of deposit, but they no longer take MOs, and a cashiers check needs 5-10 days to clear.

Lets hope they are even still there after Dean hits them in a day or two. Hell for that matter, I hope Im still here after Dean gets in the Gulf.

I think I will stick with the checks being mailed, instead of doing any money transfer over the wire. The least amount of face to face interaction with people the better.

Then one day they call me out of the blue and start asking all kinds of questions. They start aksing me who is this person whos is that person, why are you sending them money. I obvoiously didn't even recongize the name. ALso tried to come up with some excuse. They didn't buy it. Now I'm blackballed from **. A cuople of moneths later I tried sending money by Money Gram, thye refused to let me send money. They wouldn't give me any explanation but I'm sure they share information with **. The crazy thing is that the money I was trying to send by money gram wasn't for gambling.
