British Teen Finds $90G in PlayStation 2 He Ordered on eBay
A British teen got more than he bargained for when he bought a PlayStation 2 on eBay.

When the package arrived at the 16-year-old boy’s Norfolk home, there were 65,400 Euros(approximately $90,200) inside, according to a BBC report. The police are now trying to trace the package back to the owner.

The boy reportedly received the PlayStation 2 on March 20. Two games were missing, and in their place was the cash.

Norfolk Police have until September 22 to hold the money before the matter goes to court. Once in court, the boy’s family could apply to have the money returned to them.

"We know that eBay is a great place to pick up a bargain, although in this case, we agree that the contents of the parcel were somewhat unusual and we will assist with any inquiries the police may wish to make," an eBay spokesman told the BBC.

I'm trying to decide if I would call the authorites in that situation. If I did, it wouldn't be strictly out of niceness considerations. I would be worried that the owner of the cash - who may very well be involved in illegal, dangerous activities - might figure out what happened to his loot and show up at my door with a crowbar.

What was that movie where something like that happened? Shallow Grave?

90k falls into your lap and you call the cops and hand it over. No way. I wouldn't say a word.

if you did not return the money and spent it, you could be guilty of embezzlement. Something like this happened in my home state of minnesota last year. Some lady substituted taught one day of school and because of human error she was paid around $500,000. The check processor punched in the wrong client number. Eventually the state traced the money to her who spent around half of it and she is awaiting her court case.

I don't think I'd spend it right a way at all. Those bills could be traceable and be part of a bank robbery or something. At least wait 5 years before putting that cash into circulation in order for those bills to drop off any type of lists they might be on.

it was cash not a check...so as long as you didn't deposit the money or make big purchases no one would know you had it....

Clearly a publicity stunt by ebay.

<--- Off to buy a couple dozen Playstations. This may be reproducible.

You need to know the person or be associated with a business to embezzle money.

Being overpaid because of human error is a different story.
