This is why players betting Tennis need to check the rules where they wager at. I personally dislike books that impose the "retirement rule is imposed, because I bet mainly dogs and I more than often benefit from these types of things.

Eurosport - Fri, 03 Aug 08:02:00 2007
Online bookmaker Betfair have suspended payments on a tennis match involving Nikolay Davydenko due to irregular betting patterns.
TENNIS Davydenko - 0
Betfair launched an investigation following the retirement of top seed Davydenko during a match against world number 87 Martin Vassallo at the Poland Open in Sopot on Thursday.
Davydenko won the first set 6-2 but then lost the second 6-3 and was trailing 2-1 in the third when he withdrew with a foot injury.
Betfair reported an usually high number of bets on the match and are to inform the ATP Tour, the governing body, of their concerns.
A statement read: "Betfair has suspended settlement of the match-odds market on the second-round match of the ATP Orange Prokom Open in Poland between Martin Arguello and Nikolay Davydenko, pending consultation with relevant regulatory authorities.
"Betfair has had a memorandum of understanding with the ATP since 2003 and will use it to exchange information should it become necessary."
A spokesman for the tour told The Guardian: "The ATP takes issues surrounding gambling extremely seriously.
"We are committed to ensuring our sport remains corruption free and have strict rules in place governing this area.
"It would be inappropriate for us to comment further on any individual match or on the status of any potential investigation until such time as the process has been completed."
