Where in the hell does the time go aways. I can't believe MTV has been around for 26 years. Way back in the 80's this channel was really cool when they actually played music videos, but nowadays it's all a big bullshit reality shows.

The first song ever played on MTV back on this day in 1981 was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles

They have been playing black artist since day 1 Tchocky. They use to play those old "MTV closet classics" of Jimi Hendrix all the time. However, I don't think they played the modern type black artists till like 1985 range when RUN DMC had a hit with an old Areosmith song.

I saw a documentary on MTV,it's one big giant commercial. I believe they are owned by Vivendi or some other corporate giant. Only record labels owned by the parent company are played on MTV now.
A lot of the shows they have on now are just pure garbage. A month or so back they had a homosexual teen dating show on. I mean WTF are they thinking?. If you have young kids in the house you may want to block the channel all together.

i guess you would rather have homo's just start pounding each other rather than date first.

I was being sarcastic. Blacks criticized MTV for not playing black artists and now all they play are black artists whenever they decide to play music videos.

I agree Bateman, it does suck big time nowadays. Now as far as the videos these days go..well, I couldn't even tell ya if they do or don't. I don't even watch that channel anymore.

We are dumber as a nation because of MTV. Prince and his yellow assed out panties were the beginnning of the end.
