Best Areas To Live in Las Vegas

    Hi fellow SBR Members,
I am looking at buying a house in Vegas to rent out in the price range of $130 - $150 000. Would like to live in it in about 8 years when i retire. So my question is what is the nicest/safest areas to live/purchase in this price range. I am from Canada. Any and ALL help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Areas change over time. I lived there for a bit and I lived in the Mountains Edge area. About 10 miles from Red Rock Casino. That was very nice.

I will say stay away from North Las Vegas.

    Summerlin without question.

Strip is too much for me. I need some semblence of normalcy or respite from the degeneracy of the strip.

Yeah, people that live in Vegas tend to try to stay away from the strip to live.

You can get a house very cheap in the suburbs of Vegas.

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

I'm 26 and have been living here for 3 years. Poker has been very good to me.

I lived in Zip Code 89119 when I lived there and it wasn't bad at all, great location. Near Sunset Blvd for all of your shopping needs and not too far from the strip/downtown either.

Also close to South Point and Green Valley Ranch.

    everyone different

there is no such thing as the best of anything in life

very few people live on the strip unless you live on Las Vegas Blvd and only a few properties on there and most not affordable to anyone here

you of course can live across highways from strip and those are even pretty high

150K will not cut it. Living on the Strip is very cheap. Do not let Big business Bull S**t you. You can get a nice Condo for 70K. He probably rents because they cannot give those away, especially the ones behind the Flamingo and other Center Strip Hotels. People who are successful in Vegas do NOT live anywheres near the strip. They do not have to. There are some very nice areas just outside of Vegas, but you had better have around 500K for those places.

Someone tried to stay away from SBR and couldn't. We will see soon.

As for Vegas, it is hard to buy something right now with the market the way it is to buy something and rent it out without taking a small loss on it monthly.

Condos are your best bet to try and at least break even on it.

You kidding me?? You can get a mansion in Vegas for 750k, same house in Miami would be $3 million. LA $5 million, etc.

Thanks for some of the feedback, but i was asking to buy for around $150 000 in a nice area. It doesn't have to be on or right near the strip. I know ther is some real nice houses for that price range, just want to know what areas. I've heard of Summerlin, Henderson, Lone Mountain etc. I have been to Vegas 60 plus times but always stayed in a strip hotel, never really ventured to far out. Anyone who has lived in any of these or nice areas with feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Just go to those realtor sites would do a Google search homes/townhouse is in Summerlin or Henderson

I think for 150,000 you could get some decent about 1200 ft.²

Google it and it'll take you to realtor sites

Zolar when I'm there I'll take you to a strip club and I'll have girls snort Coke right off your arm
