Will you change your NBA capping at all in 2007-08?

I like to bet dogs in hoops and everything, but I have to wonder how this NBA referee scandal could hurt my profit margin quite a bit. I'm thinking I might have to tweak my capping a little bit.

I'm I the only one concerned with this matter in this aspect or I'm I just overreacting a little more than I should?

There will be no noticeable difference in the NBA next season. If you were capping based on the appropriate technical and fundamental factors last season, then why would you expect to be less successful next year? Were you on Donaghy's mailing list?

Not sure there will be a noticable impact, but if there is I think BBD is on to it. Less interest from the more casual bettor, less money on the public teams, slightly lessened paydays playing against them.

In any event, conventional wisdom is that the more causal players don't bet much on the NBA until after the bowl season.

i won't change a thing. Its not like you will be able to know what game is fixed, and besides next year with all the focus, we should see less questionable calls.

I can't say I'd start checking referee's stats, because I've always been doing that in every sport. However, I will start putting a little bit more emphasis in them this year In the NBA. After what just happened I feel it could be a very key piece of info to factor in more this year than in years past.

This whole thing has given me a convenient excuse never to bet the NBA again, as if I needed one to stop. Anyhow, as JJ said, I believe it's a tiny sample size but perhaps we should wait and see if ole Timmy D starts ratting out other refs, and who knows, possibly some players and/or coaches as well.

I'll say that I believe other refs might have been involved, but players and coaches make way too much $$$ to risk this kinda stuff -- then again, maybe I'm giving them too much intellectual credit..

This whole debacle just reinforces my stance of not betting on the NBA. This is nothing new. It's been happening for years. It's the easiest sport to fix and there are questionable calls every single game. Donaghy was just dumb enough to get caught red-handed....

The amount of action Vegas sees on NBA games will be affected by this, especially early in the season and especially if the investigation is still ongoing. Donaghy throwing more referees into the fire will also hold action down. But if he reveals players as being part of the fix, it will take a full season or longer before NBA wagering returns to recent levels.
