#3You have to wonder what the NFL is going to do to Vick considering there was gambling involved.
By Sponsoring Dog Fights, Did Falcons' QB Michael Vick Violate NFL Gambling Rules?
The indictment of Falcons quarterback Michael Vick on conspiracy charges related to a dog fighting ring run on his property alleges that Vick provided the "purse" to the owners of the winning dogs. For instance, Page 13 of the indictment says this:
In or about March of 2003, VICK retrieved a book bag from a vehicle containing approximately $23,000 in cash. The cash was provided to [a confidential witness working with the feds] as payment for winning both dog fighting matches.
To the average observer, electrocuting a dog or killing a dog by slamming it to the ground would seem like a worse offense than gambling. But in the NFL, gambling is a much more serious offense than dog fighting or animal cruelty. If the NFL investigates and concludes that a $23,000 payment to the owner of the winning dog was a form of banned gambling, Vick could face league discipline no matter how the dog fighting investigation is resolved.
NFL on Michael Vick: 'We Are Disappointed ... Guilt Has Not Yet Been Proven'
The NFL has issued a statement on the indictment of Falcons quarterback Michael Vick on conspiracy charges relating to a dog fighting operation that was allegedly operated on property he owns:
We are disappointed that Michael Vick has put himself in a position where a federal grand jury has returned an indictment against him. We will continue to closely monitor developments in this case, and to cooperate with law enforcement authorities. The activities alleged are cruel, degrading and illegal. Michael Vick's guilt has not yet been proven, and we believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts. The matter will be reviewed under the league's Personal Conduct Policy.
The statement that Vick's guilt hasn't been proven (not to mention the curious use of the word "yet") is noteworthy because NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has indicated with his suspensions of Titans cornerback Pacman Jones, Bengals receiver Chris Henry and former Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson that he doesn't feel the need to wait until the legal system runs its course before issuing suspensions. Will he react to the Vick case differently?

#11This is just the US Government trying to bully another gambling operator within its borders. They're probably going to try to come out and say that betting on dogfights is illegal.

#13Lots of off color jokes can be said of Vick!
If no team wants him or if he goes to prison and needs a job when he gets out maybe he can go to BoDog to find employment.
If he gets cut and goes to prison he can always get back into the dog fighting business when he gets out.It will be returning to the hair of the dog that bit him..
I always thought that him and his brother were from a dogpatch family the way they behaved.
Jesse Jackson most likely will come to his defense and say it's a set up where they are railroading him and he will tell the justice system to quit dogging him.Ever hear the one on the floor of the senate where Ted Kennedy thought a poverty bill came up short and said the bill was like using a 7 foot poll to get a man 12 feet out in the water drowning to safety.
Now here is a guy making tons of $$$$$$$$$ and needs to at least put on an act that he's an all around nice guy with wholesome values and morals. That way he can make more $$$$$$$$ in endorsements. He must have been staying awake at night thinking,,I have the world by the ass and what would the MAN want me to do to ruin it all for me where I end up in the gutter?I know,I'll make a few measely grand a year staging dog fights!!!Can you say pennywise and pound ''ton''foolish! He truly is an idiot savant because it takes knowlege to be a decent quarterback but like The Rainman, when it comes to anything else in life where he has to function and make logical decisions, he's retarded.
And people cheer for these people as fans where they show concern if they win or lose. Why not just go outside and find a robbin to cheer for if he catches the worm he's after.I have more concern if a robbin can feed it's young than if Vick has a good game or good season.
Do you think Vick showed signs of being a sadist as a kid by gathering red ants and putting them in the black ants hill?I think every kid did all that weird stuff but it ends when you are 10 but for Vick it never did.Comment -

#14There was a guy on the radio saying just that today.
So what if he is a drug addict, gambler, and runs a dog fighting ring? So what if he body slams dogs until their death while electrocuting others? So what if he shoots off his fans? The only reason people don't like him is because he's a black quarterback in the NFL.Comment -

#19blah blah blah
you can see they took all types of dog fighting equipment in the news video. Vick is guilty as **** regardless if he gets away with this. You can see it in his eyes that he is a dirty ass piece of trash. I hope he dies a horrible death soon. I ****ing LOVE dogs and they have brought more joy to my life than I ever thought possible. In fact I have spent nearly 18-24 hours a day with my 4 big dogs for the last 11 years. I know they feel pain and happiness. To envision what was going on that property makes me ****in sick. #20Vicks just gonna pay the other 3 guys to say he was not there and had no knowledge...
Makes the most sense for all 4...
The other 3 plead guilty, go away for 2-3 years and come out with $5-10 million as opposed to their minimum wage jobs.
It is the best EV for all 4.

#23The question is not if he was involved, but to what extent. If this was Favre or Brady people would be absolutely shocked. So why is Vick getting the soft public treatment? The guy is a sick motherf*cking piece of sh*t.

#25It is, isn't it? Think of the impact of this. This can cut out the trials full-stop. No more losing GDP by having people away from work on jury service. You can cut out the high paid judges as well. You can even sell off the courthouses and conduct the trials in the local Starbucks. All you need is a single eye-reader to determine guilt or innocence. I'm going to put this forward to the US Government and try to get a percentage of the cost savings.
Hang on, they're already using this system in Guantánamo Bay. #26Now there's a forward thinking system of justice! Look into the eyes of suspects about which you really know nothing outside of media perception. Then once you determine guilt (or lack of human worth), go ahead and kill the person. Brilliant!

#32I respect the underlying premise behind PETA's existence. But the main reason I can't respect the organization as a whole is when they pull stupid stunts like this (or protest Wisconsin as the cheese state, try to force Hamburg, Germany, to change its name, etc). As previously mentioned here, Vick has only been indicted, not convicted. And while I find the whole thing sickening and believe the man to be guilty based upon what I've learned/read/heard so far, he needs to have his day in court.
The next time some PETA pothead gets arrested and charged with a crime, I'd like to see a group of butchers go down and slaughter cows/chickens/pigs in front of the PETA offices until PETA agrees to fire the employee before their trial.
Once Vick is convicted, they need to strip the mofo down, glue bacon to his ass and put him in a cage with about 25 starving, half-crazed pit bulls. Then broadcast that at halftime of a Monday Night Football game and let everyone know that if you're even seen at a dog fight, the same thing is going to happen to you.Comment -
