What a idiot Rick Tocchet is. He's still facing sentencing from his gambling business and is still coaching the Coyotes. This guy gets the idiot of the year award hands down for being that stupid.

    More gambling by Tocchet

Rick Tocchet's in the news again, and in a familiar refrain, gambling is to blame.

The former Phoenix Coyotes assistant coach is playing in the World Series of Poker this week in Las Vegas, even as he awaits sentencing after pleading guilty in May to running a sports gambling ring. Tocchet's sentencing hearing is scheduled for Aug. 17, and he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $50,000 (U.S.) fine.

Tocchet was well down the leaderboard (use link at bottom) early Monday in the World Championship No-Limit Texas Hold-em event, trailing other notables such as Celine Dion's husband/manager Rene Angelil by $12,000.

Tocchet is on an indefinite leave of absence from the Coyotes.

Also taking part in the tournament are Wayne Gretzky's wife Janet Jones and current NHLer Maxime Talbot.

    Im confused.

Why is playing in a totally legal poker tournament stupid?

What does this have to do with booking bets?

Its like saying someone who has been busted for dealing drugs was having a drink at a bar. Who cares?

He's still gambling while awaiting sentencing. If you were in his shoes would you be out doing stuff like that or laying low during this time?

Playing in the WSOP will have no bearing on his sentencing.

He is being sentenced for illegal activities, and playing poker at the WSOP is as legal as driving a car with a license.

Im not being obtuse, I fail to see the problem here, and I highly doubt that anyone except a fan with a hockey blog will.

Thats your opinion vanzack. Personally if I had sentencing and my job at stake I sure would be laying low though.

I'm with Van on this one. I don't see the problem. I play and follow poker and don't know how I missed his name as a player. All I know is some of the most notibles are out. Helmuth, Ramer, the Mouth, the unabomber, Jennifer Titty and Shannon Elizabeth.
