OT - Sounds In Various Languages You Hate
Anyone else have any pet peeves with certain sounds in languages?

I absolutely hate the "ch" or "tch" sound in English, especially when people say it way too strong. I also loathe hearing the "s" at the end of words in English or Spanish, especially when overemphasized. Growing up between French and English I used to detest the French "R"s, but the Spanish rolling "R"s are completely vile. Hearing jews talk to each other in Yiddish is disgusting and sounds like a bunch of cats coughing up hairballs at the same time. I didn't realize you could make a language out of inventing repulsive sounds from the back of your throat.

Those are the ones that literally cause me to cringe. Anyone else as irritable as me in regards to certain sounds?

Yeah I know Arabic fairly well and I hate a lot of sounds from that language... I can see your point on overemphasized R's and S's.... I think sounds in most languages bother me...

I don't hate it, but the Boston accent bothers me a little. Funny, the NYC/Bronx accent doesn't, tho. I am from neither.
