SIA dispute update

In a newswire from earlier, we stated that SIA had canceled a player's winnings for the last 6 months. SIA provided convincing proof that the player was aware of the closure at that time. Through a technical error, the player's account was re-enabled for wagering, and the player resumed playing (after initiating withdrawals).

I recommended to SIA that they pay the player anyway - it wasn't the player's fault that his account was re-enabled. Still though, the player's knowledge that his account was closed muddies the water. While I would have handled the dispute differently from SIA, I cannot say their decision in this matter was unjustifiable.

If he would have lost would they have refunded those losses? No. They should pay.

I'm still waiting to see one of these SIA situations where a losing player had his whole balance refunded. It hasn't happened yet.

Ont he flip side, if someone WERE going to "abuse" SIA, they are probably a winning player, and have about a 0% chance of losing there with a decent sized deposit.

The player's funds were at risk so he he won the money. If SIA really wants to be sure the player understands they don't want his action they can cash him out.

With all due respect Justin, that is just plain wrong. As John said, would they have refunded the player his losses if he did lose? I think we all know the answer to this. And technical glitch or not, as Bill said SIA clearly could have just cashed the account out and that would have ended everything. IMO, this is SIA taking a shot at a player and losing. They should pay his entire balance and disable his account (properly this time).

Same thing happened to me w/ 5dimes when they changed there software in 2006. My account which had been disabled for wagering was reopened after the software change.

The player deserves to be beaten with canes.

But the book was in error if they let him bet. Its pretty simple to disable someones account. It takes all of 15 seconds and thats taking a break in there too.

And why didnt they zero his account and send him the money? Pretty hard to bet when there is no cash in the acct.

Bottomline the player is an idiot. Why? Because of what happened. I don't question SIA for a second that they properly informed the player there was to be no more wagering. If he came back in under another name they would be justified to confiscate all winnings. But he didnt right? He used real and cleared postup funds on fair lines and won. SIA, pay him and move on.

I don't think anyone could really dispute that statement John. We all know this gentlemen would have never had his money refunded!
