    Pinnacle question?
I have a friend who lives outside the United States. He wants to open an account with Pinnalce Sports but wants me to place all the wagers. Will I be able to log into his account from the USA and place wagers or will the site prevent me from logging into the account from the US? Will Pinny close his account and confiscate his funds if I try to access his account from the USA? What is the worst thing that could happen?

Not sure what Pinny will do, but why take a chance?

    Two options you can try:

Buy a certain amount of prepaid internet hours at

You'll have to install their program to log in through their service, and it allows you to select different cities in a lot of different countries to dial to for logging on to the internet.
Pull out the cable or DSL connection from your PC, select a phone number from the country where your friend lives and log in through that.
Pinny will see that city as your location everytime you log in, rather than the city where you are realy at.
It's a bit slow, but the Pinnacle site doesn't take long to load.

Option two is to have your friend set aside a second pc that is always conneted online and you can log into remotely with the software from companies like

Here the pc located at his place is actualy loggin in and making the bets, even though you are controlling it.
Again, it's a little slower, but as long as you don't do anything else with the internet at that moment (Kazaa, e-mail) you'll be fine.

You can keep checking the Pinnacle website WITHOUT logging in to watch line movement throughout the day, and only use one of the methods above to make bets.

    Hope this helps

your account be limited to 1 cent, then you'll be asked to withdraw all your money. and it usually takes about 24-48hours for pinnacle to find out about it. unless you make tiny bets and stay under the radar.

          my thoughts exactly

but if he can get his "friend" to produce a valid foreign passport/id and proof of residency, he can save a lot of juice by placing bets for his "friend".

Hold on guys. Supose someone LEGITIMATELY lives in a country that Pinnacle accepts. Not saying that is the case here, but call this a "for instance." Once the bettor verifies his identity and address, does it really matter where he places his bet FROM?

Are you sayng that someone with a legitimate account can't place a wager while in the US for business or vacation? Seems to me that if he lives in a country that Pinny accepts and he has proven his identity, he should be able to place bets from anywhere in the world. Remember that this player is not a RESIDENT of the US.

Yes it will matter if several bets are being placed every day from a computer with an ip address in the US,because then they will presume that the person opening the account has provded false information and will most likely shut the account immediately.
If you google "my ip address" you will get a site that shows you how to hide your ip address.

                vanman,

I understand your point in obvious cases of fraud, but what about the guy in the US either on vacation or on business?

Pinnacle is no longer accepting wagers from the USA. even if you're legitimate foreigner who travels to USA, you still cannot place a bet using any of the ISPs from the USA. if you place a wager with a USA IP, that is considered a wager placed in the USA.

so just go open a matchbook and a 5 dimes account, between those two, you can pretty much replace pinnacle.

What about from his laptop purchased in his native country, using wireless card?

And yes, I am naive when it comes to IP-type stuff!

If your on vacation then just chill man.If your on business then get on with what you`re being paid to do,but if you`re that desperate to place a wager and have the time then phone someone back home who you trust to place your bets.

                          vanman,

Not talking about me personally, as I live in US. I was just asking out of curiosity. And how are IPs tracked on laptops? I know its a stupid question, but I honestly don't know. I always assumed each laptop has its own IP that travels with you? Again, I am a total novice in how IPs work.

laptops wireless cards are the same as the pc wireless cards. once you connect to an ISP (AOL, dialup, ethernet etc), you're assigned an unique IP address by the provider. people can figure out where you're exactly by doing a simple search from your IP address.

here is a simple way to explain it. if you use your cellphone in europe, you're using european cellphone provider's network, so when people trace your cellphone call it'll seem that it is orignated from europe. if you take that same cellphone and make a call in the USA, your call will be connected throught the USA cellphone provider. So when people trace that call, they'll know you made the call from the USA. wireless cards works the same way. just because you bought a laptop in europe that does not mean you're using a european ISP service.

i was hesistating writing all this because i don't want to sound too condecending. i hope this clears things up for you.

All i know is that it is possible to hide your ip address so it`s not known where you are from.So anyone in the US for instance who would want to carry on using pinnacle would just need to find a way around funding the account.I don`t know how easy it would be to open a bank account say here in the UK,i know some of them do dollar accounts.Like i said previously if you google "my ip address" all the info you need is there.

i'd say it is pretty hard to find a "friend" overseas who is willing to let you use their ID to open an account. maybe you can go down to home depot and pay one of those people standing in front 50 bucks to see if you can use their passport...wait, i don't think they have passports...nevermind.

knowing all that stuff won't make you any richer. as long as you know how to handicap, you're doing better than 90% of the bettors.

sometimes i think it is much easier for me to phone in the bets. it is nice because sometimes it is really hard to find a computer when you're on the road, and even when you have a laptop with you, you're not going to have internet connection all the time. i phoned in my cavs bet last night while i was waiting for a cab, and it only took me 2 min.

i think i said it before, pinnacle is like walmart (cheap and plenty)...if you want better service, i recommend the greek or some other A/A+ books(not Bodog).

Are you sayng that someone with a legitimate account can't place a wager while in the US for business or vacation? Seems to me that if he lives in a country that Pinny accepts and he has proven his identity, he should be able to place bets from anywhere in the world. Remember that this player is not a RESIDENT of the US.
Thank you, LT. I don't know why so many of you are skeptical of my question. I do have a friend who lives in South America but doesn't know much about sportsbetting and would like me to place wagers for him.

You cannot place wagers from inside the USA at Pinnacle. Period. Find a way to not do that.
