    Just watched Jesus Camp....
wow, scary to say the least. Very disturbing. Too bad for those kids. Many seemed very bright and motivated too. Brainwashing 10 year old kids into praying to a cardboard figure of George Bush shows just how crazy these people truly are.

    Anyone else seen this documentary?

I saw it a while ago, it cracked me up. It was a comedy, right?

Funny? Only if you find it funny that it is taking us months to get paid off by sportsbooks these days. These are the people that are responsible for this disaster.

I haven't watched Jesus Camp because I could tell from the trailers that it would just piss me off too much.

Another interesting/upsetting doc about the sins of church nuts: Deliver Us From Evil. The angle is different than Jesus Camp - Deliver is about the Catholic church's (lack of) approach to pedophiles in the clergy - but it is a hell of an expose.

The best part was when they showed the religious lunatic mother homeschooling/brainwashing her child as to why globing warming is not real. She says the best way to reply is by saying the average temperature has only increased by 0.6 degrees so therefore global warming is not real.

I grew up like this. Jesus Camp was 10 years of my childhood. Thank you Jesus for now I am the strongest atheist on the planet.

Thank the gambling gods for rescuing me from this fate.

Anyone interested in a great book - The God Delusion by Richard Hawkins.

                    I wholeheartedly second that recommendation.

It slipped by me when it first came out so I watched it today. I have two comments.

                      1) I would not go so far as to call it absolutely spectacular but I enjoyed it and give it a Thumbs up.

                      2) This is getting way off topic but it is startling how much Jena Malone, who plays Mary-Louise Parker's daughter, looks like she could be her actual daughter. As far as I can tell, they are no relation but the resemblance is astonishing.

It was so spectacular in that it exceeded my expectations more than any other movie I can think of. There is also a great deal of philosophically powerful dialogue cleverly interspersed throughout.

Actually the children in the documentary were nothing short of bright and imaginative. It's unfortunate though that their talents were being used to advance an extremist view on religion. Hopefully, sometime in the future when these children become older they can be exposed to other ways of life. It's the adults who deserve all the scorn......
