That is what made Jordan so unreal, average talent and no big man and 6 titles!! now that is unreal.

Lebron is way better than Bird and Magic combined

In this day and age of the NBA, the talent is spread around so much that you will not find teams stacked like the old Lakers and Celtics teams.

These days, teams only need 1 or 2 stars to get it done. Last year's Miami Heat had 1 star -- Dwyane Wade. Shaq was worthless in the finals. No other stars on The Heat.

You don't need teams to be stacked these days -- in fact you can't even stack them because of the high number of teams and salary cap. Have 1 or 2 stars with tons of role players around them, and you'll be okay..

          Shaq was not worthless

          Wade wins nothing without Shaq

jordan didnt have a big man, but there also werent many dominant big men during his era. Ewing was big, but was a choke artist. Jordan played in a weaker league. there are more stars now and more good teams around the league. also the rules changed dramatically when jordan was playing as to protect guards and make the game more 1 on 1 and less team basketball.

Yeah, "worthless" is too strong a word. How about "a shell of his former self".

There were a few games in the Finals where Shaq got shut down by Eric Dampier of all people. Of course, The Heat still won the finals, but, Wade was doing it pretty much by himself. Wade was hurt the 2nd half of the season in 2007, and only 70% in the first round, and The Heat gets swept.

Having Shaq in there certainly opens up things in the paint, but not as much as back when he was dunking with the Lakers and Kobe..

Some interesting stats for the year 1979-1980

Magic was the 3rd top scorer on his team that year behind Kareem and Wilkes. Averaged 24, 20 and 18 respectively.

King James was the top scorer this year on his team followed by Ilgauskas and Hughes. Averaged 31, 15, and 15 respectively.

To put in a much better perspective. Detroit had to only really worry about James and the guy still scores 29 of the last 30 points for his team....against a Detroit team that just couldn't stop 1 guy.

48 pts 9 reb 7 assists is great but here are other numbers people wont see:

                2 turnovers in 58 minutes...

that is INCREDIBLE for someone handling the ball as often as he was. he took charge of every posession and for him to only commit 2 turnovers in 58 minutes of intense defense is remarkable

4 FTs in the 4th quarter and 2 overtimes

Lebron did it by himself, there was no Wade-like bailing out by the refs here. he hit those jumpers, made those dunks, created everything on his own and didn't need any refs to give him any calls.

7 assists out of 13 team assists

this is what separates Lebron from Magic. he trusts his teammates, he creates and draws double-teams to find them wide open shots, yet he still has the ability to take over the game at the end.

I still think it's kinda funny how 2 good games plus one great game took this kid from absolutely nobody's NBA MVP for this season to the greatest player of all time.

Side note: How exactly one compares players of such different skills as Magic, Jordan, Wilt, Kareem & Lebron to come up with a "greatest player" is fascinating to me. It's like comparing pitchers to hitters in baseball or goalies to forwards in hockey or kickers to QBs & linemen in football.

Performing at an unbelievable level in the most important of games (Lebron) can cause your stock to rise faster than performing at a high level for 82 games that mean almost nothing (Nowitzki).

Ah yes, now I understand, games 1 and 2 of this Series were unimportant. If he has a bad game tonight, then this one will be unimportant as well. If he has another bad game in game 7 then it will be the refs' fault.

Shit, Baron Davis might be the best player of all time!

Yeah, yet his team is tied with the Pistons at the half. If you thought the Pistons would not key on him more after what he did to them in Game 5, then you're not paying attention..

Watch for Lebron to be much more effective in the 2nd half..

                                                Exactly!

I remember some idiot saying that Daniel Gibson probably wished he hadn't left Texas early after he was drafted late in the 2nd round. Might have been Penis Vitale since he always makes it seem like every player that leaves early is making a life-ending mistake.

Good job, DL. Obviously Austin didn't pick up on my meaning but he's a funny little guy so I'll let him slide.

You're the racist. Apparently you can't let things go.

Good job, Austin. Maybe you should spend less time in this forum and a little more time here where your slightly less than brilliant commentary will be welcome.

Sad part is you visit those sites, I do not.

It was an outburst. I was at boiling.

Would an apology thread wipe the slate clean?

Lebron played more of a team game last night, plus 3 guys on him.

Lebron makes others better like no one else that has ever played
