I agree, I am wrong that you can not quit. I really shouldnt say that. But the reason I did was because I know I can not. The advice I gave was from an old timer I met many years ago. He was pretty much my mentor and that was something he used to always say which was, "Learn to be a better gambler" It took me awhile to fully understand what he meant and it was this advice that ultimately saved me from the gutter, not to mention my marriage.

    Hey man,

I was in the gym, was great ...
Saw the results, so I had £3.6k balance now £3k balance.

I am seriously considering now closing my TheGreek account and take a fuking break ... I'm still up £1.5k from my £1.5k deposit so that's a very good result, and I get back by Moneybookers so only $15 fee, and I'm happy to receive £1490 back extra to my account instead of wasting my money on another bet.

I think I must close the account and then I won't have how to gamble, I did cool myself from all other sites for now, just to get a freaking break from all this!!

Yeah, it's like a diary of a gambler, ah?

So sad ... I'm going to find out how to stop betting now, there is no use for me to place more bets at least not for another 1-2 weeks, I do need a break, I know it.

I think closing account temporarily is the best way for me to be a "better gambler".
    Darn,
I already made nice profits, why ruin it?
    I've already burned £600 out of the £3600 I had ...
    Why?
    Out of stupid addiction...

I think having a break is the best medicine for this kind of behaviour ...

The worst thing about these paydays is you end up needing to bet bigger and bigger amounts to get the same hit. At the height of my crazed gambling I had $18k on a Red Sox baseball game. It cashed but I was sick for a week afterwards. I rang a gambling helpline & they found me a counsellor. Like most of you guys I find stopping altogether near impossible, but nowadays sports betting is a pastime with strict deposit & betting limits in place. The fear of losing everything/ending up in ruin is stronger than any desire for action.

I know ... I agree with you ... I am trying to cool off for a few days but no response from TheGreek so far unfotunately:

To be honest I have no idea what do you mean by "selling picks"?
I've never done it before and I didn't know people are selling picks ... who are they selling these to anyway?

But I see you joined in 2010 and you are a member here for a long time and not a 1st poster so I sent you a PM.

Okay, I have suspended my TheGreek account for 1 week.
I have a balance of £3,000 there and I would be able to withdraw it on the 15th of May.
So I won't be allowed to place any bets with them until that date.

If I have any bets to place it would be only with RedKings and they allow me a maximum bet of £500 and right now I am not going to deposit or place any bets with them nor with any bookmaker, I am first going to get some counselling help for the lack of control ... it was extremely difficult for me even now to confirm to TheGreek that they can suspend my account for 1 week.

congrats on the hit and suspending your account access. smart move not cashing it out right away as it probably would just been loaded onto another book. definitely try to talk to a professional here asap. get this under control and get back to just recreational betting. best of luck

    Risk £3,000 to win £250 ??
It's not very smart move ... not because the winnings are not guaranteed, they almost are, but it would attract me to bet more and lose more than £250 easily ...

I'm leaving anyway in 30 minutes for counselling to get some help.

Good hit...now stick with getting some help and don't let this $hit take over your life. Smart guy learns from other peoples mistakes and doesn't have to make all of them himself like the average joe. Its not just the sick feeling from losing more than you can afford....its the relationships that suffer while you're winning too. Women will only put up with so much sports on TV. I often think about a great girl I was dating in 1999. She was attractive and crazy about me but I was on a baseball heater like no other and was too busy gambling and partying to settle down. If you have kids (or want them)...friends...family...they all want to spend more time with you but you're too damn busy watching games. Don't do it.

I don't even watch the games I'm betting on.
I just bet as if it was a market.
I don't get excitement from this.

My counsellor made a gambling test, I scored 40% which is good.
But she said she's there to help me avoid gambling completely, but she did understand the rational of myself trying to be in control ... she said I definitely have symptomps of gambling addiction and she is not encouraging me to continue ... but again, in terms of symptomps and the "test" I made I scored a very low score of 4 out of 10 ... she only has people who are broke, in debt, and lost everything as clients ... she told me she never had someone who is in credit and coming because of the issues I was describing....

I guess that's the problem in Israel ... it has a huge different system than the British one.
