Should civil rights have an expiration date?

I think it's time to quit allowing certain problem groups in society to call upon civil rights and due process as a means of circumventing the treatment they justly deserve. If you are an ex-con, when you re-enter society you should be treated officially as a second rate citizen. You had your one shot at being treated equal and you blew it. Now you can be shot, stabbed, punched, frisked, etc by the police the next time you break our laws. Al Sharpton can no longer create excuses for you.

It's time to get tough on the poeple who are milking us dry and corrupting our youth!

Buztah, excellent post as minorities continue to use the term "civil rights" to shield themselves from prosecution for the crimes they commit. Unfortunately, there will always be left-wing lunatics like PavyRacer, Cappy, RenoCool and jelobiafra rushing to the defense of certain minorities no matter how heinous their crimes are. In a perfect world, the above mentioned foursome would be the only ones on the receiving end of those crimes.

A public hanging for a first offense is probably a little extreme but a strong public flogging or amputation of a finger or 2 is certainly appropriate. RenoCool, if you were in charge (and thank God you're not) what punishment (if any) would you give to the individual who steals from a store or a tip jar?

Countries like Singapore and Malaysia take the correct stance when it comes to dealing with criminals. Punishment is severe and swift and even though the majority of its citizens live in extreme poverty and overcrowding, there is very little crime committed in either country.

The United States of America needs to take a page out of their playbook but as long as there are so many criminal loving left-wing democrats infecting our great country, thats unlikely to happen.

There are 2 distinct classes of black people:

1. The first class doesn't buy into all the "affirmative action" bullshit and can't stand mouthpieces like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. This class works hard and is badly tarnished by the 2nd class.
2. The second class of blacks consists of people like jellobiafra who blames the big, bad white man for every single thing that goes wrong in their lives. They cheer on the Jeremiah Wright's of the world and call everyone a racist when in truth, they are the most racist people on the face of the Earth.

The first class produces as much as they can for society while the 2nd class commits all the violent crime and is tearing apart our country from the inside out.

I was hoping the Obama presidential victory would make them realize the U.S. is as equal opportunity as can be but unfortunately it wasn't enough to satisfy them and this 2nd class is growing larger and larger in number with each passing day.

As far as civil rights having an expiration date, its been 144 years since slavery was abolished and 45 year since the passage of the Civil Rights Act. Blacks enjoy more equal opportunity now than any point in our country's history and that is the way it should be. We all deserve equal treatment and full opportunity regardless of race, religion, gender etc.

The problem is the blacks in class 2 continue to DEMAND preferential treatment over everyone else and they point to the injustices of the past as a reason to give them just that. I absolutely DESPISE these people.

Pretty sharp post in total. Although I'd say it's simple-minded to break any ethnic group into two distinct class. African-Americans are just as complex and diverse as any other. The fact that you can break them down so succinctly tells me you have not had very much interaction with them in your life. Or if you have, it's been very superficial. That may not be the case at all, but your conclusion would seem to indicate so.

Jello, after reading your civil response to my post, I am willing to admit I was incorrect in my judgment of you.

If you were one of those people that blames all of their problems on the big, bad white man, you would not have responded back in the manner you did.

You are correct that I haven't had much interaction with blacks in my life though I have had some. I do make it a point to avoid any political discussions as I've always assumed they would disagree with my political views.

While its fair to call my breakdown of blacks simple-minded, I have very little desire to be around those who belong to my 2nd class and I can safely assume they feel the same way about me.

When I see videos of what took place back in the 50's and 60's regarding the treatment of blacks, it sure looks really bad. However, it seems like black leaders are far more angry now than they were then (even with all the progress made towards equal treatment for all).

I truly believe the only way to fully satisfy Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc, would be for the U.S. to become like the movie "White Man's Burden". Its a very interesting movie starring John Travolta and Harry Belafonte.
