#3He is a pretty good writer, no matter what you say he had to get fired though. You cannot have media guys taking pops at young college girls.Comment -

#5The reason why that article is so good, is because although Whitlock mentions that he doesn't like Imus, he still sides with him. The fact that Imus got fired today is the stupidest thing that I have ever heard of in a while. Most of America has never heard his show, and don't understand that he is a funny guy who does and says stupid things often. I hate to make this comparison, but Howard Stern was 1,000 times worse than Imus and has said things must worse than "these girls look like Nappy Headed Hoes." If you listen to his comments that day, which most people haven't, it was said in a humourous context with no attempt to harm or insult anyone. Whitlock brings up a good point about Rap and Hip-Hop and the messages that they send to young black americans. Hopefully Imus can rebound off of this, and make more money on another station. (my guess is that XM or Sirius will sign him to a big deal)Comment -

#7I can tell you from a corporate perspective that any politically sensitive issue is treated much different from all others. It is a political mine field out there and the corporation I speak of is of the "old school" brand. There is no room for stepping over the proverbial "line" when it comes to political correctness.
The liberals have ruined this country.Comment -

#8I have to disagree that Imus is irrelevant. He gets more Washington and New York power players on his show than any other. The fact that his attitude as reflected in the recent comments is nothing new, means these elites tolerate this type of racist joking. I am not saying that is bad or good, but it is certainly not irrelevant to black peoples lives IMO.While we’re fixated on a bad joke cracked by an irrelevant, bad shock jock, I’m sure at least one of the marvelous young women on the Rutgers basketball team is somewhere snapping her fingers to the beat of 50 Cent’s or Snoop Dogg’s or Young Jeezy’s latest ode glorifying nappy-headed pimps and hos.Comment -

#10Don Imus is one of the furthest things from a racist that there is in the media today. He called the (mostly black) Tennessee womens team "cute." But thats not the point. The point is that on his ranch, which is used to help kids in need, 10 percent of the children are black, african americans. There is no pressure from the outside that makes him have a certain number of people from every race, he does ir because they need help. It doesn;t matter what race, color, or sex they are, he helps them because he can. During this whole ordeal, nobody has commended him for the countless time taht he spends doing charity work. I dont see Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson setting up a ranch to help kids. All I see is that they come out and suppirt the black community, whether they are right or wrong. I'm still waiting for an apology from both of them for ruining the lives of those three innocent Duke Lacrosse players.Originally posted by lakerfanI have to disagree that Imus is irrelevant. #12I think your exactly right mavs I think Sharpton and Jackson are the worst people on this planet, I have seen them do stuff that is just as bad or worse. I may not have listened to Imus very much, but I don't think he deserved to lose his job over this though. I am sure that Imus will be put on Sirrus or XM within a few months probably.Comment -

#15must read? hardly. an average read with some slightly unoriginal points, although they were decent. whitlock to me will forever be the guy that bashed vince young before the draft and how his behavior would negatively impact his performance on the field, since he was not approaching his job as a starting QB like a true professional. riiiight. good call.Comment -

#17uh, no. the article is not a must-read because those points are not that groundbreaking, and border on unoriginal. that same take has been appearing on almost every bulletin board and radio show covering this so-called sports story. pay attention.Originally posted by mavs1978your right sungus.. since he missed on vince young this article was obviously not a must read.. nice logicComment
