Jordan's Hall Speech Was An Attack On Anyone That Crossed Him

Interesting, he only mentioned guys that said something negative about him and how it motivated him and how he buried them all.

It all started with the guy who beat him out on the HS team, he did it in a nice way but that was the message of his great speech, he praised no one.

    Interesting

    hahaha.

I liked it. The competition desire is alive and well with Michael Jordan.

Bob is correct. I'd give him 5 betpoints if I could (doesnt work on iphone).

Not only does he have a horrible .430 winning % and just 1-8 playoff record without Pippen but was the biggest asshole ever. He punched out several of his teammates and froze out teammates that shot the ball instead of passing to him. He was also the reason why Isiah Thomas was left off the Dream Team because he refused to play with him.

Overrated? You can say he was a bad teammate if you want. You can call him an asshole, but overrated? I find it hard to believe that someone could win multiple Championships, Mvps, and Scoring Titles by being overrated.

    0 titles without Pippen
    0 MVPs without Pippen
0 playoff series wins without Pippen

At least Kobe won an MVP and a title without Shaq.

In a watered-down league. That's like saying Bill Russell's, Larry Bird's and Magic Johnson's titles were "tainted". C'mon, that's crazy.

Jordan was the best ever, by a mile.

I would never go so far to say that MJ was the most overrated player ever in the NBA, but I think he came off totally unprofessional and bitter in a speech that should have been completely opposite.

Did he fvcking make that shit up as he went along? Worst.Speech.Ever.

Kobe still had a good All-Star Center in Pau and a power forward that created matchup problems in Lamar. Not to mention the same coach that helped Jordan win six rings.

    Shaq had D Wade.
    Magic had Kareem
Tim Duncan had David Robinson, then Tony Parker and Ginobili.

The list goes on and on. No one player can win a championship alone in todays game.

You wanna talk about watered down?

Jordan's 1985-6 Bulls made the playoffs with a 30-52 record.

Gasol is NOT a sure fire Hall of Famer that Pippen and Shaq are. Pippen and Shaq were named "50 Greatest Players of all time"....... Gasol wouldnt even make the top 200!

He couldnt even win a single playoff game with Memphis for gawd sakes.

Man, I missed the speech live, but I watched all 20+ minutes of it on YouTube (thanks for the link, DeeWizzle), and anyone that is dissin' MJ about that speech is fukkin' stupid. Like, an obvious moron and a hater from way back in the day.

Jordan showed a terrific sense of humor throughout the speech and could not have thanked more people, from Scottie Pippen (first up!) to Phil Jackson, Dean Smith and Tex Winter. He praised his enemies as well as his team mates, mentioned all of his fellow inductees, and paid homage to the players who were most determined to defeat him, from Isiah to Magic. He credited David Thompson with inspiring his early years and gave his brothers, sisters and parents all the credit for making him so competitive. He rarely looked at his notes through most of the speech and just spoke as his heart moved him, and he was moved enough to appear on the brink of tears early on. Clearly, Jordan was deeply honored to be inducted.

JJgold, were you watching the same speech that I watched? Shit, he didn't bury that high school team mate who bumped Jordan off the varsity team; he cited that kid as a motivating factor and even remembered his name! Leroy Smith (that kid) is probably enjoying more notoriety today than he has ever experienced in his life.

There were two lines from MJ's speech that I really loved. One was about Doug Collins, his first-year coach who, after Jordan single-handedly led the Bulls to a great comeback victory, scolded Jordan with the old cliche: "There is no "I" in TEAM." Jordan replied, "Yes, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in WIN!"

The other memorable line was MJ's last line from his speech: "Limits, like fears, are often the just an illusion."

So funny when people simply read headlines or listen to the talking heads to make up their minds about something or someone.

OK I watched the whole speech and I thought it was great. He gave a life lesson to everyone out there - "You can achieve anything no matter what people think and say".

With that, I'd like to thank my ex mother-in-law for the motivation she gave me by telling me I had no ambition when I got married at 19.

Yeah I saw it live and was wondering what others thought about the speech. I've only heard that he wasn't that thrilled about going into the HOF, I guess because of the finality it represents. Here is an article I read yesterday: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns
This guy really let's jordan have it and I think is a must read, although I think he was a little harsh. Not many experience the kind of celebrity Jordan had and has and what that must do to a person.

He did it in a nice way and also buried the Bulls owners, it had to be the first speech ever where the player named names who tried to have a negative impact on him throughout his career. It was very interesting and a great speech.

Scotty Pippen might be the most overrated so called "hall of famer" in nba history

Keep in mind that the stats include his 2 years in Washington where he diluted his numbers big time.

Show me a 2 guard/Small forward with numbers even remotely close to this and I'll consider your argument. For now JJ is right, you need to lay off the whiskey.

I mean, you can take away all of his offensive greatness and he would have to be considered one of the best of all time by just his defense alone. The guy was in a class by himself, nobody will ever come remotely close to this kind of talent. He is BY FAR the best basketball player to ever step foot on a court. Unstoppable. Totally unstoppable.

Not only that but he was the 2nd best athlete to ever play the game. If you think not, you need to watch some of his highlights in real time. The dunk over Ewing was one of the sickest takes I've ever seen in my life. The only reason I don't say that he is the best athlete is because of Vince Carter.

You thought it was a great speach, wow! I thought it was horrible. I think he can't let it go that he is old and will never play again realistically. The guy is being inducted into the hall of fame for christ sake. He would have done allot better by focusing on the positive, its a good thing he never had to use his speaking ability to play basketball.
