I find fault with any study that does not have Wisconsin in its top 10.

Reno is no shock to me. But Raleigh in the top 5 soberest cities? Umm.... No. Any city with a major state university in it should not be on that list.

For those that don't want to click the link and then the other one inside, here's the list of drunkest towns along with my comments:

                Most Drunks
Reno, Nevada (9.4% "drink heavily"): Never been there, really have no desire

Palm Bay-Melbourne, Florida (9.1%): Have driven through Melbourne, never heard of Palm Bay really, didn't know this area had become a 'city'

Boulder, Colorado (9.0%): Beautiful town, love the area, but it's a college town that from my experiences is simply full of a lot of unhappy people

Austin, Texas (8.8%): Another big college town and the self-anointed 'live music capital of the world,' plus a bunch of state legislators

Charleston, South Carolina (8.7%): Another beautiful little city that I really like, think some people drink to excess because they live so close to fcukin' Myrtle Beach, a toilet of a town

McAllen, Texas (8.6%): Lived there as a kid nearly 50 years ago long before it exploded into what it is today, only been back three times since I moved away in 1961, se habla español, los gringos tambien.

Naples-Marc Island, Florida (8.5%): See Melbourne, only driven through this area.

Riverside, California (8.4%): When my uncle was at Edwards AFB, he took me to some aircraft museum in Riverside once, only thing I know about the place.

Cape Coral, Florida (8.1*): Geez, what is it with Florida? My first wife lived in Ft. Myers and she took me to Cape Coral and Pine Island, wasn't impressed.

Barnstable Town, Massachusetts (8.0%): Never been to the Cape, Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, any of those places. Would like to go someday but this seems to be a stretch to call a town of less than 50,000 a 'city.'

We have a 'city' of 35,000 members and several thousand 'hardcore citizens,' and I can promise you we blow 9.4% away with ease.

Did you know income is positively correlated with alcohol consumption?

I remember reading a few years back that around 1/3 of the drivers on the road in Las Vegas were legally drunk at any given time.

Surprised that Vegas didn't make the list.

Reno is probably one of the most depressing places on Earth so I can see why people would turn to the bottle.

Riverside probably lands on the top ten of the meth list as well.

Honestly, a lot of these places seem like good places to live. Maybe they just attract hedonists. I can't imagine cold weather states don't have more winter drunks.
