I've been a customer at a certain sportsbook for over one year. Recently they stopped my play with no reasoning to support the decision. I have an idea that they think I'm steaming lines.. I know they have the right not to take my acction but I'm up a little money and am now worried that they will try to stiff me. Has this happened to anyone? Thanks for everyones insight.

#5If it was 5Dimes--you will get paid. Tony hates anything that borders on professional action. What gets me is that books still want to kick people out even after they have given them the 15 second delay. Man, if you can't get it right after 15 seconds--then you need to get a new linesman--not new players. SBR should post what books are whiners when you prove too sharp. This would be an invaluable tool.Comment -

#6What SBR SHOUJLD DO is adjust the reviews... If those books don't like professional action then it should not be stated that they are a professional book as 5Dimes CLAIMS to be....Comment -

#10On the topic of books not wanting proffessional action, the GREEK has politely told me to stop betting on lines that are about to move.
I would consider the GREEK not wanting professional action either.

Amazing! I thought the Greek was where you went when Bet Jamaica didn't want you anymore?! Are Pinny and BetCris the only books which don't cry abt professional action?Comment -

#13Pinnacle and Matchbook welcome professional action. That's it. I don't mean that the other books don't have high rollers. The most certainly do, but only Pinnacle and Matchbook have designed their betting software to allow them to not get hurt by sharp action. 5dimes takes 5 dimes on sides, as does the greek and CRIS, so they are pro books. They just don't like pros.Comment -

#18Exchanges that don't seed accounts are the only ones that can't get hurt.
Every other book, including Pinny can be hurt. Laying off can make for very little exposure if any.Comment -

There is nothing wrong with betting stuff that moves. Soft numbers are great, but I wouldn't buy my parents a "my son is pro gambler" bumper sticker.Comment -

#20There is a difference between being a sharp gambler who moves lines and a trader who only bets stuff that moves, hitching a ride on someone else's play. If you know ahead of time that the line is going to move in your favor and you bet it, expect to be limited online. This applies to ANY book that isn't controlling the market in the sport wagered on.

As for bookies, there are two types "leech (or blood sucker)" and "exchange maker". I like those terms vs. recreational and professional. And for the record, if a $500 bet on any game at any moment in time upsets your "balance"--you are not a professional book. You are a leech.
Hey Bill, how abt a bumper sticker that says "My son stomps on leeches!!"Comment -

#21I understand the attitude of veteran players who hate the recreational model. I often waited to see if the line would move before putting in my plays too, especially on 2nd halves when betting into a moving market is more acceptable. Would I play Pinnacle moves at recreational books hanging baseball overnights, prop bets, or Tennis? No.
Different books have different tolerance levels for different sports. Maybe we could put a 1-5 rating on "Trading Tolerance". It's tough because that would change by sport. There are lots of players that are considered to be pros betting college hoops and football. They don't get thrown out because they bet their own stuff. They bet at books with high limits that make their own numbers. Tolerance for picking off numbers is not the only factor when deciding who a book is best for.
The guys that are stock trading... they don't need a rating.Comment
