Thoughts on WHY US doesnt want us betting?
1st I hear its against morals? Yet we have casinos all over the US along with horse/dog tracks and lottos. They claim that all money made from lotto goes to schools my ass. Ill have to dig and article up on when they were asked where something like 50mil was missing. Now most states are switching to computer drawings. They claim to save money. Is the $100,000 a year to much? Course not they just want to make more money you cant be the computer!!

Taxes? well shouldnt we be worried about immagrants if we are worried about taxes and what not. This is correct we spent $20 BILLION dollars last year in medical for illegals that should make any1 sick. They say cause they will work for less. Hmmm add it up they have no car or insurance and pay no taxes. SO if they were getting paid $5 which none will even work for that cheap add in all the savings and they are really making $15 an hour after all they dont have to pay.

Land of the free? Hmm I get check jacked weekly when i see how much taxes are taken outta my check. Then they tell me I cant gamble with it my own money? Not 2 free to me.

Sorry IF my thread pissed any1 off but I would like to hear everyone else thoughts.

      They don't really care.

This bill was attached to another in the middle of the night by a couple of crazy republicans pandering to some crazy religous folk for their votes.

You think the politicians really give a **** if we bet on sports?

The government does not give a shit if you bet.

The DOJ does not give a shit about neteller.

              Here is how it works:

A few crazy senators/congressmen attach a meaningless bs bill at 2AM for some religious crazy votes.

Some assistant DA somewhere tries to create a big media case to make a name for themselves (See people like Ashcroft, Gilliani, etc)

Outside of those assistant DAs trying BOS or Neteller, no one gives a shit. Unfortunately, no one gives a shit enough to say stop wasting money either.

                In this exact order

                1. Vegas stopped it by funding Senators campaigns, ect
                2. Votes for politicians, most Americans don't gamble so its a win win for an election
                3. Money Laundering

The government just doesn't want all that money to go offshore, out of the US economy. They can't say that, because it would fly in the face of the WTO, so they coat it in some ridiculous religious argument (the entire Bible contains not a single sentence against gambling).

This government wants your taxes, so it can buy weapons for wars it creates, so that your money will line the pockets of the weapon industrials (and other corporate interests that funded this government, such as Enron or Halliburton). The government does NOT care if, in doing so, it digs an astronomical deficit. It is all about corporate interest and profit.

Your money is supposed to serve the interests of this government. If it flows offshore it can't do so. Hence, a law was slipped in under the radar to make that 'illegal'. Please note that anybody who opposes this government, using weapons, such as the Iraqi resistance, are classified as 'illegal' combatants. The first soldier has yet to fight the US army in this war! To oppose this government is pretty much 'illegal' in its eyes, as witnessed by the infamous declaration: "You are either with us, or against us." To achieve its ends, this government steals elections, lies us into wars, tortures, locks up people indefinitely without a right to trial, controls the media (news in this country is merely propaganda), etc.

Gambling is just a little dot on the screen of the bigger picture here. At least we are practicing some level of civil disobedience. Kudos to those who practice their freedom to gamble. And to all who refuse to be intimidated into giving up one iota of their freedom.

There are no terrorists. This government is the terrorist.

The opposition to gambling from the religious corner is especially hypocritical. These Christians are motivated by fear. They believe that, unless they do so and so, they will burn in hellfire for eternity. Nobody has ever seen this hellfire (other perhaps than in the stakes lit by the Inquisition), but that makes no difference. It is there. At least, they're betting on it!
