Nadal's done. He overachieved on clay where he was too quick and talented for everyone for a little while, Federer owned grass for longer than Nadal owned clay, and his body hasn't fallen apart since he's better tactically and has a more reliable serve.

I watched. Murray was shaking his left wrist from the end of the first set,on. His 2-handed backhand was weak. He was doing the backhand slice a lot. He is definitely injured and/or in pain. I was thinking for sure Murray was going to retire. But he didnt to his credit.

Monfils had a chance to win here, but he was too inept to take it. Nadal was clearly trying to exhaust him with those insane 20 shot+ rallies midway through the 2nd set, and it worked - after that Monfils was toast. Far better for Monf to take a risk and try end those sorts of rallies with a big winner attempt early on, rather than getting ground into the dust.


Nadal also had no pace on his first serve at all - that's the stomach muscle injury at work - and was flinging them in at second serve pace. Monfils should have been destroying those, but did absolutely nothing all match, even put a lot in the net. Someone like Del Potro will absolutely crush those.
