You sure about that?
This off-season they
spent $53 million on Garcia
$56 million on Alcantara
$10 million on Rojas
Acquired Jacob Stallings from the Pirates
Acquired Joey Wendle from the Rays
Their pitching is very good
With the lockout, how do we know they were done spending?

Mattingly squeezed every ounce of talent out of his whole bench.
Who knew that the hick from the sticks by the Wabash River not only could hit doubles but coach a team on a shoestring budget too.

Easiest job in sports to get a chance to make a baseball team relevant in the state of Florida during the summers. I wonder why Jeter gave up on the Gravy Train in MarlinLand. No one cares about summer sports in Florida.

Doesn't he own a piece of the team, also? If so, is he selling it?

He is no longer a shareholder. I think he had like 5% prior to today.

Something went wrong
They basically did not listen to him and he quit

Yep.
Mahomes is now a minority owner now of the KC Royals, and his dad pitched MLB ball too.
You think they'll listen to him?

That's what we call a very nice ROI
Yeah, I read that too.
I think there were conflicts about spending and budgets.

Best case scenario is Sherman sells the team to Jorge Mas but that’s not likely.

He only bought Inter Miami after Manfred awarded the Marlins to Sherman/Jeter and not him. He has very deep pockets.

He found out that it's a whole different ballgame when he doesn't have a great team behind him, unlike his playing days.

Sadly they're not getting rid of Boone.
The brass loves him.
Yanks are working on an extension for Boone, he comes cheap, that's probably why they like him.

Spot on.
We were talking about the negotiations last night on twitter, topic changed to Miami and Jeter, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic pretty much confirmed what we kind of knew all along.
Difference in budgeting philosophy

I don't know Nash--he has more than a shoestring budget out here in LA, but we know those results.

I suspect Jeter did not give up his lucrative CEO/shareholder position over $15 million dollars on added payroll. Don’t believe bad takes you read on the internet.

We’ll know after the lockout if the Marlins are adding to what has already been a very active off-season for them:
Garcia $53 million
Alcantara extension $56 million
Jacob Stallings
Joey Wendle

Jeter has a sharp business mind.
Growing up in the NYC area, I got to learn a lot about Jeter (and Mo)
I followed both those Hall of Fame careers for 20 years.
Jeter personally is cold as ice, everything he does, every move he makes is calculated.
Doesn't make him evil, he's just, like I said. cold as ice personality wise.

Ok
But we still won’t know if the Marlins are adding payroll until after the lockout ends.

Manfred the idiot just postponed the first two weeks of the regular schedule.
If this isn't settled by Friday we're going to lose all of April.
