the chemistry of this team is so much better. they took what they have in spades-3 point shooters and ball handling-traded that (harden) for defense (simmons), a spot-up 3 point shooter in curry and a goon in the middle who can shoot (but admittedly soft in d can't have everything)

the chemistry is so much better because harden is not on the team. it's no coincidence irving scored 60 points. that doesn't happen with harden around, right?

you guys who play ball (me, played lol) know it's all about chemistry. for a 3 point shooter, you gotta have a screener. you gotta have someone who can block shots and get rebounds.

it's that balance that the team already has. and they are loaded scoring-wise with 2 of the best shooters of all time in durant and irving, and role players for support instead of another guy (harden) who needs the ball and the shots

and they are a hungry, humble team. nobody is picking them to win it all. i don't think i've heard of anyone. another good sign.

i don't give them over a 50% chance to win it. but at +550? hell yeah, doubled down.

    should be fun. gl fellas.

What do you mean nobody's picking them? They're 2nd favourite. I dare say they'd be favourites if they weren't on course for the play-in. Make it sound like you're taking the dark horse -YOU'RE NOT!

Warriors continue to look awful. I don't think Curry fixes their issues. HEAT are the most overrated team in the East. Showing that legendary HEAT toughness against the KNicks tonight

HEAT were hot stuff early in the season. THey had an identity based on toughness. BUT... one too many bad eggs. Gotta have some nice guys in the mix to greece the wheels.

            Jimmy Butler eventually ruins teams

            Players do not like him

As Iron Mike said, everyone's a tough guy until they get hit in the mouth. Morris thought he was tough until he got flattened by Jokic. HEAT wobbling... losing to depleted teams 3 games in succession. Bunch of thugs -remind me of that Clippers team of 2 years ago.

                +550, that's a dark horse.

This is not the Warriors back when they were -250 to win it

In basketball for a lot of years there were what-a max of 3 teams that could win it. Now we got 10. Should b fun

That playoff is an issue. Hornets are hot and there is a big fight for 8th. If 9th of course, the Nets have to win 2 including one on the road

I wish these Hornets would cool off. Huge game coming Sunday Nets-Charlotte. Nets lose the tiebreak.

Nets -275 vs charlotte. They win they're up 2 games on charlotte near impossible for charlotte to catch up

Not saying this stuff to mess with you guys. I already doubled down on nets win title. You agree, price still the same. Let's cash.

nets big loss to the hornets tonight. teams are tied but the hornets own the tiebreak

nets will have to almost win out, it's possible given their fairly easy schedule, and hope the smoking hot hornets somehow lose a few

                            disappointed for sure

if 9th they have to win 2 games in a row, one on the road. difficult not impossible

seems after watching tonight they need ben simmons to have a shot at the title. the defense, the presence in the paint is not there. drummond just doesn't bring the toughness juice, and there's no power or small forward who can play shut down defense

Neither of these east teams looking impressive. Harden is terrible. Irving is selfish. Celtics are doing well but unimpressive roster wise.

Big news tonight is the Lakers in blowing a 23pt lead likely blew their shot at the playoffs -Spurs & Pels have a much easier schedule than them. It's 2020 all over again.

That's why Curry is a huge addition. He's a spot-up 3 point shooter. Kyrie looks to dish on the drive. Role playing open 3-point shooters are a preimum in the nba, and he shoots over 40% from 3.

Every team has flaws. Huge loss by the Hornets today to give the one game cushion back the Nets for 8th. Imagine the Net with Joker they'd be -300 to win the title-he's exactly what they need, a goon who just rebounds screens and scores inside.

Gonna be one big exciting circus when the playoffs start. Luck is going to play a huge role, you saw the Celts loss of Williams, they were a big fan favorite to win the title, obviously a major blow.

Teams can't even guard Kyrie let alone Durant, the only way to beat the nets is to utilize the shot clock with ball movement and force them to play team defense with switching.

They can be beat, with Durant the team will always have a chance at the end of the game or a crucial part in the 4th quarter but defense has become a team concept with the utilization of every position shooting threes.

Outside of losers like harden that play hero ball, teams are starting to attack in layers by finding the open man then beating the switch, iteration upon iteration upon iteration. They are taking a page out of popovich's book back when Duncan was still playing.

Defense doesn't boil down to just one on one or one player anymore, everyone has got to keep switching and recovering. It comes down to tenacity and discipline, so far the nets usually give up or get broken on defense after the 3rd or 4th pass in crucial moments. That's a recipe for disaster in the later rounds. Nash needed to figure that out 20 games ago let alone heading into the post season now

I always believed that offense wins championships more than defense. You can be a great, legendary defensive team, but if you can't put the ball in the basket in today's fast paced game, then another team can just go on a fast break and there isn't any defense for when a guy like Morant comes at you at 100 miles an hour. It's gonna be a foul or dunk or kick out for a wide open 3 every time.

With the Nets, you put the ball in the hoop, it's gonna be hard to run on that team, most of what you get in the playoffs is gonna be in the half court, and the Nets are a very long team that can muck a game up. I mean Kyrie Brown Durant Simmons Drummond, that is a lot of length and I think if they progress a couple rounds and Simmons is good to go, they are gonna be hard to score on in half court sets.

Nuggets would mop the floor with all these teams if at full strength. When's Murray coming back? Getting late!

Getting buckets easy or not doesn't matter if you're giving up baskets on the other end with ease. Every team that's going deep has more than capable scorers which means every basket they score counts the same as the baskets Durant or kyrie score. Drummond is a screener and a rebounder. He is not a defender. I think Simmons will ultimately be their centre -he will match up with Embiid on both ends of the floor in a Sixers/ Nets series.

True though right now it's the regular season.

The last piece to the Nets puzzle is Simmons. I don't think they have a shot at title without him.

Simmons can plug in that Nets hole where they seem to allow a guy to get hot and be unable to stop him. For example Cunningham tonight for the Pistons. They need a streak killer like Holiday for the Bux who shut down Paul and won the Bux a title

Backs are tricky. They can flare up at any minute and Simmons will just not be 100%. I know, I got my own issue with sciatica an all that. imo it is very questionable he makes it 100% through the Nets playoff run.

It goes for all the players-as Durant said post-game the #1 issue with the Nets is health. Goes for every team, but the Nets seem to be especially fragile, Durant is not a young kid anymore 33 with an achilles Dragic is out there with a knee brace at 35 Kyrie has a history of injuries

As said potential for elite length as defenders. Durant, Simmons, Claxton, Drummond all 6'10" plus. What that will do for team chemistry, we don't know yet because Simmons has not played with the team.

Bench is a hole for the Nets. They have the advantage of having both Kyrie and Durant, keep one of them on the floor. But the bench is still weak, and Nash has to figure out who to play every night.

You look at the great teams, like the Bux last year they kept guys together and it won them a title. Guys you play with for years it's like brushing your teeth you don't even realize it

It's like rolling the dice you never know as you said-they may never get it to work this year or it may come off as a fit right away. nobody knows. As you said in theory it's a perfect fit-he's a rim player and a defender on a team that has neither. I would assume he'll play a roll man on offense, he doesn't need to shoot the ball, which is good because we all know he can't shoot perimeter. He'll have to get off those rolls and get offensive rebounds and lobs

given the achilles tendon history of players it was a big risk for the nets to sign durant. the warriors wanted nothing to do with him, the gm cried after the achilles tear. it worked out for the nets. it's their job, from the coach up to the office, to figure out how ben simmons would fit in the team, and how to deal with his back
