Played a pick 5 at Del Mar. hit the first 4 and have the 1 and 10 in last leg. In starters gate the 2 goes to the ground. He was going off 4-1. The 1 breaks thru the gate so the scratch him. They decide to let him run for the purse. They make the 3 the favorite. So that is the horse they give me as alt. They decide to let the 1 run for purse only. The 1 wins and the 4 runs second. But seeing there is no bets on the 1 I don’t get him. The 4 wins as the second choice. He was 3 rd choice when they were betting the 1. The 4 pays 2500 so I am assuming I would of got a grand. I had a horse that paid 21 in it. Just figures with 10,000 worth of hospital bills this would happen. Just wanted to vent. Thanks boys.

Yeah what a bad beat. I know a couple of people had the pick 4 with the 1. I had the 4 offshore on the fixed odds and was surprised they paid it rather than the 1. Would have been livid had I played the 1 in the fixed odds as I assume they weren't paid. How can you bet a winner but still lose?Comment -

apparently what happened is the horse was accidentally taken off the board, and many sites immediately issued refunds... my win ticket was still up at twin spires, but i deleted it and switched to a loserComment -

William Hill, Ladbrokes, Skybet and several other books paid off on both first two finishers, Modern Games and TizThe Bomb, as a fair play gesture. Here in the States, that wasn't the case of course. Modern Games did not break through the gate but was voluntarily let out from the gate by one of the starters. This added to the confusion but Modern Games never should have been scratched for betting purposes, he was physically fine as he certainly proved. I bet the #1 and #2 but subsequently canceled all wagers once the extended delay evolved ,so no sour grapes here. It was a lousy predicament for the OP and many others who had exotics involving the #1, especially with live Pick5 tickets. Strange string of events to say the least.Comment -
I didn't blame no horse for anything. It's a horse. I meant the 2 should have been scratched and I guess he was. I was confused what happen. I suppose I already had too much to drink by the last race. But yeah, someone screwed up and I assume will be collecting unemployment next week. What Happened Yesterday was inexcusable that should have never happened especially in your so called world championships. Maybe during the 10th race at Kansas Downs but not at the Breeders Cup where they have 20 different officials maybe that was the problem. That is coming from a pro horseplayer for over 10 years now i barley follow it.Comment
