Rob Manfred said on Tuesday that the Atlanta Braves' local Native American community is fully supportive of the team, including its infamous Tomahawk Chop chant. It took less than 24 hours for one of the country's largest Native rights organizations to contradict him.

Yeah I don't get it either for baseball. They have teams named Spartans, Trojans, Aztecs, Vikings, Canucks, etc and no one is complaining. I guess if the indigenous people are dead no one cares anymore.

Donald Trump Takes Part in Contentious 'Chop' at Braves-Astros World Series Game

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred defended the fan celebration to reporters on October 26. Manfred said the team had the support of local native Americans.

“He (Trump) called MLB and wanted to come to the game,’’ Atlanta Braves CEO Terry McGuirk said. “We were very surprised. Of course, we said yes.’’

McGuirk said Trump would not be sitting with MLB or team officials.

According to Braves CEO Terry McGuirk, Trump had surprised Major League Baseball officials by calling and telling them that he wanted to come to the game. Trump will not watch the game with MLB or Braves officials, and will instead watch from his own suite.

McGuirk stated that the New York billionaire-turned 45th President of the United States was very much welcome at the ballpark.

"We are apolitical,'' McGuirk said. "We're open to anyone coming. It's great that he wants to come to our game.''
