Must have been a real serious issue for the cardinals to get manfred's permission to fire that dumbass, with game 5 between the Dodgers and Giants tonight.
Mlb doesn't like this kind of thing to happen during the postseason, and especially when its game 5 of the Nlds on tap. very strange the timing of this

Cards will be better without him obviously. Being a baseball manger is not difficult. Just don’t lose your team games and make a couple moves a year to steal a few wins. This guy lost games for his team. Absolutely the worst manager in baseball….and I watched Girardi all year….even Joe is better.

Spot on analysis Vitterd. two games out of many, come to mind where shildt cost his team. In July he blew a 6-1 lead in the ninth inning at home vs the cubs. lost 7-6 and used three pitchers in the ninth in the wrong order.
Then at home vs the braves a week or so later, blew a 4-2 lead in the eighth inning by mismanaging his pen, and lost 8-4

Yes sir. You can tell the cards couldn’t wait to move on from him. As you said, the timing is odd as teams typically wait, but they pretty much shoved his ass out the back door immediately. I look at the cards lineup and think they are one of the best in baseball….can’t believe they had to win like 17 straight to get into WC. They should be better and will be next season.

and I didn’t know Schildt would be available

dude shouldn’t be fired he should be manager of the year

imagine what he could do if he coached a team with some talent

actually think he got fired because of his mismanagement of the wild card game

that late run would have saved his job if they went into la and lost 10-0
