We are talking BASKETS, here.
Nothing racial intended on this thread at all! Pure facts.
But for years, man, it seemed as if Blacks were so gifted at basketball skills, we would only see white players located far down the bench. And probably, where they belonged if they were sitting there?
Take away Bird--now I haven't researched this deeply at all, just going mostly by memory--how many elite white stars have we had the past 30 years, starting back in 1980 to 2010? I don't want to count them but we surely know, none or few were in Birds class were they?
Walton was probably there, a few years earlier than Bird. We had two or three more White icons.. say Rick Barry; Maravich; the hated C. Laettner
.
Add 1 or 2 more if you like, but I still see them being pretty thin numbers? Now I am talking super basketball player's.
Icons.
Today's basketball? Yes, White players "seem" to be coming back strong, much like a White Wave?"
The trend does seem to be accurate and I see it being very good for basketball, as a whole.
