#37That's because everyone is resting for the playoffs and there's no home court advantage so seeding is meaningless.Originally posted by lakerboyThe 1 seed in the east hardly ever makes the finals . Go look back in the last ten to fifteen years.

#39Well the number one overall seed since 2000 has won 7 finals. They didn't even make the finals much other then those 7 wins. Seeding is overrated. Don't forget you said 80% of the time. It is very difficult winning games on the road and it takes a lot out of youComment -

Seeding does NOT matter when you have the best player or a top 2 or 3 player (lebron, michael, kobe) on your team but if you do not have one of these guys then seeding DOES matter. you need home court advantage if you don't have a legendary player in his prime in your starting 5.Comment -

in HOOPS the better team wins a best of 7 series almost always, barring injury or suspension.
home court teams win game 7's 80% of the time BTW. that is 4 out of 5 times so if it goes Seven games, it matters LOLComment -

#43Good point Laker but usually the top 2 or 3 teams in a conference are fairly equal. Usually 1 team is getting better with newer teammates, while another team is getting older. In the last 20 years the 2 seed made the Finals more than half the time at 11. The number one only made it 5. The Number 3 and number 5 only made it once and the number 4 made it twice. A lot had to do with a lot of teams creating their big 3 with the Pistons, Celtics and Heat. But I mentioned the Lebron factor because over a 12 year period, his teams were in the mix for first place in the conference. Lebron notoriously took games off and load managed. He could care less if they got the 1st or 2nd seed and normally shut it down at the end of seasons.Originally posted by lakerboyThe 1 seed in the east hardly ever makes the finals . #44In the West, the number 1 seed made the Finals 10 out of the last 19 years. 7 times the number 2, and 2 times the number 3 made it. No teams below 3 mad the finals in the West.

#53home court advantage is not just about full arenas, there are other factors at play:Originally posted by lakerboyYou have taken both sides. Home court isn't even a thing without full arenas. Books adjusted lines for that already.
- NOT having to travel to the other city means the home teams get to sleep in their own beds and comfort of their own homes
- shooting sight lines in arenas where home teams are used to the visuals of the arena and other nuances like this just mean more comfort by the home team.
trust me, if it goes to game 7 YOU WANT home court advantage.Comment -

#56It could be a huge advantage Shady, especially when teams aren't use to fans in the stands and now some arenas are getting some fans back. Utah for example will have 70% capacity, they've been the highest since the pandemic. That is a HUGE advantage over the rest of the field. The list below seems to be updated but things are changing day to day. Boston TD Garden had 10% fans the list below says 11% but I heard they are now at 25% for the playoff tomorrow??? I'm not sure what the real number is but 5,000 fans in a closed arena could give an emotional boost. At least a few points in my opinion. The Pacers should have about 4.5k fans. But it's all a crapshoot anyway. I'm still trying to figure out how the Clippers have more seats than the Lakers in the same damn venue???Originally posted by shadymcgradyIs home court even an advantage now? And they've been trying to trade Brogdon, so probably some hurt feelings on that team right now.
