Bet only the sport or sports you know.
Be selective with your picks. Bet straight bets.
Don’t be afraid to not bet for days or weeks especially after a little bad run.

Go to the nearest Book joint, sit down, drink a beer, watch a game, then go home sober with many dollars saved form not wagering.
That's a solid profit for 1 night at the Book.

Learn how to beat the closer. If you can beat the closer then you will win.

Make good bets.
If I bet the best available number, it might be a good bet. If I beat a no-vig, market price, it is probably a good bet. If there is an arbitrage available, it is almost certainly a good bet.

This.
There's a reason why the public loves the over. They get to cheer "for" both teams.

Problem is - and I'm guilty at times of this, is that for all the talk of bankroll management, picking spots, shopping lines, following sharp money etc - people crave action. For skilled poker players (of which, I am not but have a friend who makes his living doing it), Sunday night and Monday night after football are absolutely gold mines. People win big in sports and want to keep the ride going. People lose big and want to win it back.
I absolutely believe profit can be had long term - but it takes a bankroll, patience and discipline. 3 things that aren't exactly in ample supply with most gamblers.

You should ask Morino. He’s strong across the board with a “NON PRO” status and always firing nukes at every game. Matter of fact, when gets down -100+ units he doubles his wager and
attacks. That’s the guy to learn from.

stop betting
take the bankroll you were going to send the book and put it in an investment account. do that each time you think about betting.

Give us poor souls some advice...
If you want to make it a job and work hard enough at it to be one of the regular winners, you could do it. But even then you could earn more money for all those hours doing almost anything else.
If you like betting and don't know how to win, concentrate on not losing. Stay in the game and enjoy the action. You should then find a few spots each year to make your profits on. And end up being one the more successful guys that way.

pimike, Nitrogen nailed it...
Never chase. If your ''feel'' is not there, then wait for tomorrow and never be angry at one you missed. If you calculate how many you were ''sure'' of that lost, missing or hitting one out of many is irrelevant...
The so called experts are not much better than the average, determined bettor.. By the end of a season, most of them are below 50% with very few at or over 54%... They may be slightly ahead on one sport, but not doing so well on the others... This is why they sell their picks... So they can get their money back ...
If you bet consistently, you catch a streak, life is good... Ohh but those cold streaks can just be disheartening...

take bonuses and shop for good lines
that way even if your bets are random you should be close to even instead of buried

Thank you all, I wasn't expecting so many positive responses!
I would like to apologize for being somewhat disrespectful in the thread title.
