The #1 factor when considering this, even if you plan to hunt, grow, raise chickens , garden ect ect. FIND an area that has multiple shopping options, and less than 25-mi drive away. I specialize and build custom off-grid houses(its way cheaper and easier than you think) If you truly think your going this route I would be glad to give you some advice and guidance. On a side note basketball really need fans. I find football just fine to watch, hockey the same, soccer for the big European teams isn't as good but I've not noticed it that much it's just when goals are scored (I miss the background singing). But basketball is tough to watch no fans.

It's the person who becomes compulsive and if not in gambling they would/could in anything else

Most are in complete control but there will always be those with no willpower who abuse drinking, smoking, drug use, eating, shopping, gambling and anything else.

Moral of the story there's nothing wrong with gambling and it all comes down to the individual
