Coinbase Pro address sent to Coinbase
I just got paid out on a sportsbook withdrawal and the book sent the withdrawal to Coinbase when I gave them an address generated on Coinbase Pro. The book asks for the wallet provider which I have never seen before. Anybody know how to avoid this in the future?

No one will know here. Have you ever seen a post where people are winning bets and are cashing out?

        How are they asking??

        Phone?

        Msg/email?

        They shouldn't be asking period.

That's the whole point of bitcoin.

They request it on the withdrawal page. It is not confidential information and doesn't matter too much. It did in this case though.

My only guess is that the book has an account with Coinbase and maybe they send via the wallet that is provided and somehow it gets overidden to Coinbase. It is really more of a Coinbase issue than book issue.

I'm using Coinbase Pro because it is the cheapest and easiest. It got sent to Coinbase.

I had not logged into Coinbase in so long I could hardly figure out how to sell. I doubt I will be withdrawing from this book again but will be prepared next time.

I don't want to hold it. I sell ASAP. That is what Coinbase PRO is good for.

I gotta say this is pretty damn clever by the book. If they are sending from the same bitcoin wallet, you are probably not going to be nailed for transferring from a sportsbook. It was a bad development but live and learn.

no need to log into coinbase.com. you can just hit the deposit button on coinbase pro and choose to deposit from your coinbase account.

I can't get coinbase to answer the phone. Answer an email, or tell me to go penetrate myself. Do you really need an exchange. Can you buy and withdraw straight from a wallett. Still trying to figure out bit coin.

How would the book redirect it to a different wallet if you only gave them the one address?

It would have to be at the Coinbase end.

That what I said. It was more of a coinbase issue than a book issue. I assume the book sent from a Coinbase account and it was sent to Coinbase rather than Coinbase Pro as a result. Just a small and slightly costly annoyance but it is usually so with bitcoin.

To say Coinbase is a pain in the ass would be a huge understatement. But Coinbase PRO is a good way to go.

I used Gemini before but they upped their fees. I am not aware of any better option than Coinbase PRO but definitely avoid Coinbase. Unfortunately, you do have to get set up with them to get started which is not easy.

Send it to a wallet then to Coinbase or Coinbase to wallet then to sportsbook.

Yes more fees but these are the steps you need to take if you don't want to get banned from exchanges.

Good advice. But when was the last time anyone got banned sending bitcoin? I can't recall seeing that since the early days when these places were trying to get their bank status. Not sure that is even an issue any longer and depends on how often you transfer. I don't make that many deposits so not too worried about it. It is such a pain in the ass I am not sure I would mind getting banned.

It is the best way. Coinbase for sure. Maybe not Coinbase PRO. You take your chances. There are other ways of doing things. If you are a degenerate or professional gambler, it pays to be cautious. I throw caution to the wind because I don't care.

The book asks for the wallet provider which I have never seen before. Anybody know how to avoid this in the future?

But it's clear some aren't reading the terms of the Coinbase, or understand US laws. I can't beleive even new BTC users still make this error. I suppose it doesn't matter until someone decides it matters. Probably not worth the risk to the coinbase wallet though.

If you are sending from your book straight to CoinBase you really have little recourse here when something happens. It's a mistake to think that because nothing has happened, that you didn't do something wrong...because you did...lol.

Then I found out about Coinbase Pro which I don't think tracks these things at all but may bust someone from time to time. I don't make a whole lot of deposits so not a big deal if I do get caught. It will be a minor hassle and there is basically no chance it happens.
