#2From the e-gold website:e-gold is an electronic currency ... 100% backed at all times by gold bullion in allocated storage.
e-gold is integrated into an account based payment system that empowers people to use gold as money. Specifically, the e-gold payment system enables people to Spend specified weights of gold to other e-gold accounts. Only the ownership changes - the gold in the treasury grade vault stays put.
Another disadvantage for those that to tend to transact in their own local currency is that e-gold holding are denominated by weight not by currency value. This means that fluctuations in the price of gold will cause the local currency value of an account to similarly fluctuate.Comment -

#3Try ATM Online. They are very solid. Most books accept them and the ones that don't should shortly. www.myatmonline.comComment -

#6Pags,
Nope, all bank to/from ATMOnline transfers are FREE, including Fastcash, which is their version of Neteller Instacash. The only possible fee associated with ATMO is that books have the power to charge $15 for book withdrawals to ATMO is they so choose. I believe that Cris/DSI is free all the way around.Comment -

#7e-gold looks like a pain in the ass but it may be an option. From what I have been told payments through e-gold are very difficult to trace. Does anyone know any more about this?
A few online merchants of illegal substances only accept e-gold transactions for that very reason. It may be the only one that survives.Comment -

They have a notorious reputation in financial circles as being a conduit for money laundering due to their completely NON EXISTENT due diligence procedures ( read KYC )
In the end, that will be their demise
Unfortunate, as their initial concept was excellent - gold backed currency.Comment -

#10Seems like eGold would be a reasonable alternative to Neteller. As others have mentioned, a bit difficult to fund, but once funded it would make it easier to move money around to different books, recieve payouts and so forth. All payments are irrevocable, so books would not have to worry about chargebacks or nsf.Comment
